United Kingdom 2007 Discovery 3 TDV6 XS Auto Zermatt SilverDiscovery 3

£380 fully comp with Direct Line for me (aged 47) and one other driver. I didn't protect the NCB and it includes commuting but not business use.

Every year I do the rounds of the well known insurance companies and this is the first time Direct Line have come in cheapest for me. It does pay to shop around because I don't think any particular company is consistently cheap. Last year I paid around £320 with a company and they offered me about £580 on the same pararmeters for this year, I hadn't made any claims

That'll be due to theft I expect.

How much extra did each of the Insurers charge you once you declared your modifications (if you have any)

Snowy watch the "offroad cover" with LRIns, new lot don't do it and when I was trying to sort out the policy with old lot (RSA) re remap (i.e. if I had it they didn't want me despite telling them & paying extra for it) I said I wanted to stay with them coz of the offroad cover, I was told they didn't do that any more. Twisted Evil

Changed to NFU. Thumbs Up

Thanks Del.

When did they change? We renewed in Sept 10 and apparently was still covered then. Confused

Goo ol' LR Ins, organised as ever Rolling Eyes .
I'll speak to them in Sept when the renewall is due again and get it clarified and in writing that offroad is covered. We need it more in the winter when picking up on the game shoots so no rush to sort now.

To be honest Stu, I was reluctant to part company with the NFU as I've always had such good service from them and I would still recommend them, but for the sake of over £500 for the years insurance, I can't afford not to.

They cited the "swimming" incident as the reason for this years hike, said something about "high loss ratio" and were not prepared to move at all on the new premium - so now they get nothing Confused still don't understand why they didn't load me up last year though Question

Believe me - I'm definitely staying out of the (deep) water now Whistle
