D3 Vs D4 Diff/Transfer Box

Does anyone know if the D3 and D4 Front Diff and Transfer Box is the same (between the 2.7 and 3.0 versions?)
Auto Box version, so should be 3.54 ratio. Or was there another change so they are not interchangeable.

Cheers

Ian

The Front Diff shows the same part number for both cars - TAG50140.

This is also the case for the Transfer box (IAB500280), although for some reason my Microcat only lists one for the manual 6-speed gearbox! Shocked I can't imagine the auto one being any different, mind (the ratios are the same) ...

The Transfer Box I thought would be exactly the same. The diff I wasn't sure, but hoped it would be.

I have a slight rumble that I've still not got to the bottom of yet, so have been doing some investigation on replacing parts of the drivetrain. I figured a D4 salvage unit would be better than an older D3 one (as long as they fit!)

I also couldn't see a difference on Microcat or Topix & Nick's away til 28th, so I can't ask him.

It's not something that has got to be undriveable or anything like that & TBH I will change the front/rear wheel bearings on the other side (to the ones I changed in the summer) before I go to Durler off-roading in May & that may fix it..... even though I can't find any noticeable bearing rumble or up/down play in the wheel hub so far....

Del, no, although it would be nice if I could Smile
