Chip / Remap upgrade for TDV6
This area is completely confusing - I need my vehicle upgraded - but there are so many options available in the market place, and the costs are so different, I am totally confused.
I am asking for feedback and reccomendations not only on the performance of the upgrade - but on the performance of the installer.
Hi and welcome to the site
Do a search, and there will be a lot to read through
I don't think you will find much in the way of negative reports, so it will be down to which company you feel sounds the best.Zermatt silver 06 reg.

I have done some research and that has made me even more confused.
The price seems to vary cosiderably between different companies - I realy need some feedback from members that have had the work done -
Thanks
Phil

I don't think you will go far wrong with either sponsor of the site, my car isn't modified but Turbochip and JE have well researched products and the back up behind it. From what I have heard they have both redone cars that dealers have overwritten, so it would seem their customer service is first class too.DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

I have the JE remap. From a performance point of view, I am very happy. In my experience though, don't expect any improvement in fuel economy.

I had mine done by Turbochip and it is great no problems at all even when the dealer did a remap and it was taken off, they came to the house and redid it for me FOC. I have seen a fuel consumption increase but only if I drive it the same as I used to, but the go pedal is so much more fun you end up losing the increase but getting a bigger grin.

Ask yourself what you want from the 'chip'? Performance, economy or both.
Bet after LR Tuning post you are even more confused. As am I.
I had an Official Turbochip upgrade 2 months ago (after LR tuning went to OZ).
Great performance but av mpg never better than 24mpg, & currently 20-21. I am not bothered about the MPG, but does this mean that I have one of the latest performance prioritised only upgrades?
I hope so!

perfomance / economy/ or a mixture of both why confused
If it was possible to have an upgrade that had two different 'modes' that operated on the auto box, I'd have it. An performance biased upgrade that operated when the auto box was in sport mode and then an economy biased upgrade when in normal mode. Also, the flat spot taken away when in pulling away from stand still (in either mode).
You'd then have the best of both worlds. Maximum performance only when you needed it (i.e. when you select Sports mode), but at the cost of drinking more fuel and the benefit of a little tweaking to get the maximum fuel savings when you're just driving normally.
Make that, and I'd buy it.Matt

LRTuned and very happy with it. As far as fuel consumption, I have decided to post results in a few months time, to get a better picture.
LRTuning was great setting me up with an agent in Spain. Definitely a different vehicle.
Chris: I thought your software was the same as TC. Have you developed a different remap?JL Martin

Thanks for all your input guys - but I have to say that confusion still reigns -
In summary it seems that it is well worth doing and the economy/performance balance is purely dependant on how you drive following the work.
In the next few days I will look at putting together all the advertised options and prices then hopefully we can wittle down the choices.2006 TDV6 HSE Remapped - Awesome -

If you're in Banbury you're not too far from JE, why not give them a call and see if they've got a tuned D3 available you can try, presumably there's a TC agent near you that could do the same. This may help you decide if a remap's for you or notThe End
