Where do most people fix a fix extinguisher if they have on? On the RRS i put it on the back of the front passenger seat on a cross bar at the base of the seat. The same cross bar is in the D3 is this the best place? Loving the power of the TDV8!

Mines on the dog guard in the boot... reasoning is that I have time to think about the futility of trying to put out a fire with 5kg of dry powder and whether the insurance co. would repair or replace the vehicle after the event whilst i'm bursting out of the drivers seat to the rear tailgate

Exactly the location I asked the dealer to install it in... He then gave that same reasoning about my chances to get to it alive (with a very annoying look) and I walked out without it, muttering that I would have it installed at a different shop....
Haven't done it yet, though.... JL Martin

if you can't get to it without getting burnt, it's already too late for the vehicle

I've put mine in the same place (as I did in the RRS), under the front seat/in the rear foot well. Matt

I've always thought that they are of more use for other vehicles than one's own. Logic of above applies; I'll be getting family and self out first,by which time any fire will be beyond an extinguisher. Have stopped at an RTA and been very impressed by the group effect of about 8 or nine extinguishers on a Vectra with engine fire and bloke trapped by his legs. Bit of a sticky one.

or under the passenger seat with the LR fire extinguisher holder
Mine is in the side box in the boot... only there cause we go to France as like many I would leg it with my family and as much of my gear before the FE got used.

Simon,
Could you kindly post a pic?
I´d like to show it to my dealer. Chances are he has never installed one.... JL Martin

Mines under the front passenger seat in the footwell. Its the LR one and I fitted it myself just by following the instructions. The hardest part was removing the panel on the front of the seat base - you just need to pull very hard.
I can try and post a pic later if you would like. 2012 D4 - SDV6 XS - Firenze Red

Mine is strapped to the outside of the offside rear compartment that contains the jack. I used a couple of large elasticated velcro straps. This way it does not roll around the boot.

I have a second fire extinguisher, that isn't fitted. I will have a go at fitting it at the front of the seat this afternoon. At least this is more easily accessible in an emergency and two on board is better than one.
Thanks for the pics Ferrett. Is there any nack to getting the front plastic panel off, or do you just pull really hard? I tried once and gave up. Matt
