Lookers Chelmsford.

The service I experienced this week was so bad I thought they were actually doing it on purpose in the end. Was pre booked in for a few jobs totalling max four hours. Car not touched for three days, then they wanted it for a fourth day Shocked
They have some great staff there (ex Hadleigh people especially) but since closing the Hadleigh branch they cannot cope, they are even renting service ramps from the Renault and Toyota garages next door.
I can understand their problems but there absurdly high prices, no phone calls or updates and general lack of customer care are a disgrace.
I stress again that I do not blame the staff, I blame Lookers for overloading a dealership and causing this horrendous problem.

ELD70, its not just you, have a look at my post on freelander 2 forum

Hadleigh was great but Chelmsford is disgusting.

Half the problem is attitude of service desk, especialiy the lady....

I am due a call from dealer principle monday so will keep you updated.
You never know I may be back in a disco again if he wants to do me a fab deal !!

I concer, LR Chelmsford are awful. Rang them over crimbo for a price on a service and price for a faulty compressor, phoned them back 3 times and they never came back with a price. went into the dealership as my spare wheel winch system failed and still they had to get soemone to ring me about servicing, left my number for the 4th time, they have not rung me back since and the spare wheel winch was faulty so another trip back, lost the will to ask them again about a service. Confused

When they were at Hadleigh it was the same.

If you have to use Lookers in Essex - try Colchester it is much better. The technicians know what they are doing and the service desk is polite - even if it is all at standard Lookers prices!

They have no Censored idea about customer service, the service dept is never available and it is a complete waste of time leaving a number as they don't know how to return a call. Their prices seem to reflect their payments for their flash showroom etc.

I spoke to Lookers Colchester and they even offered to come to Chelmsford to collect for a service.

Would rather buy parts from Bishops Stortford or Yeovil than two miles to Lookers Chelmsford

Here's my experience of a month ago.Agree price for service ( virtual price match)over the phone.Call back a couple of days later to book it in,surprise surprise no record of the price.After much debate they agree to honour the price,car booked in with courtesy car. Wife takes Disco3 down on said date, no courtesy car.And then we get the usual phone call....."Madam, your rear brake pads are 90% worn"etc etc.(We had the fronts done by an indi a couple of months back, and the rears were checked and were O.K at 50% worn).So I call them and ask why they are trying to scare my wife."Well thats what our technician is saying"+ " have you done any towing lately etc"+"or changed your driving style"!!!!!. ( I won't print my reply here)To their astonishment we told them not to do the brakes.They then bring the car back without a copy of the bill,we pay anyway to find they'd charged us 12 quid to change a rear light bulb.
Never ever again.
P.S. To put my mind at rest, first thing I did after getting Disco back was to pop back to the indi to double check the rear pads again. Guess what? Yep, still only 50% worn............

Some good news....took my car to Lookers Bishops Stortford and cannot fault their service. They had my name and all the other driver names of cars due in that day on a poster attached to a small podium on the way in welcoming me to the dealer.
They knew what the car was in for straight away (while I wait EGR replacement).
Carried the work out in 1 1/2 hours.
Phoned me straight away to let me know it was complete.
Car parked outside main door all ready to go.
They gave me a small print out explaining work done.

Very polite and top dolllar service Thumbs Up

The more people I can divert from Lookers Chelmsford to Bishops Stortford the better I feel. After the way those Censored treated me. Still makes my blood boil now Evil or Very Mad

This really takes the biscuit.....had a call from a lady at Lookers Chelmsford today asking if I could answer a quick customer survey regarding my last visit.

Question 1. Did I rate the service as good, excellent or outstanding?
My answer: Appalling
Question 2: Would you recommend us to friends etc..?
My answer: No, told all my friends to avoid you like the Black Death and go to Bishops Stortford branch
Question 3. Would you use us again?
My answer: Would rather sell car than have you treat me that badly again.

The lady was very polite and I had a chat about my issues, she will pass on my comments.

I put my 2008 D3 HSE into Lookers Chelmsford, to check for play in the N/S lower ball joint, ( I can detect play in it, not a lot, but I feel there should be none).
They said it was a common problem, and they would change either the joint or the lower wishbone, and it would take a couple of hours. they loaned me a Freelander (New ) which was fine, at £10 per day.
I rang after 6 hours, they said it would be ready in the morning, and they were having "Problems".
I rang next day at about 1100hrs, they said it would be ready about 1500hrs. I called to collect it ,when they announced that their technician said the joint was fine. I said that you could hear it knocking and it DID have play in it.they were completly uninterested in anything I said. They are obviously snowed under with work now they have shut Hadleigh,and not concerned if they waste other peoples time, and leave them dissatisfied.
Lookers wanted to charge for two days car hire, which they reduced to one day, £10.00. they had my car from 0800 hrs Monday until 1500 hrs Tuesday, but may have spent 10 minutes looking at it.
I hope never to go back there, and hear that Essex Ford at Dunton are LR agents, said to be good.
I would recommend Ongar Bridge for all servicing work,but they cannot do warrantee work. Crying or Very sad Mad

50 minutes ago I popped into Chelmsford LR to get a replacement mirror glass which I broke. Parts desk ok, but after 10 minutes of trying to fit it decided to ask if someone could help me as iknow it just pops on but concerned i may force it a break it. chap said not a problem just pass the request through the service manager.

He turned with a glum look saying he could but the service manager has said i would be charged. I asked if he was joking and he's reply was 'I know' a clear sign that he knew that was taking the pi$$! Shocked

I did not get them to fit it.

Only one answer to this....Lookers Bishops Stortford, been there three times now and spot on. Rob and Craig on the front desk are very helpful Thumbs Up
Give them a try and I am sure you will be impressed. It is just before the Stansted Airport turn on the M11 so not much further than Chelmsford.

I live just around the corner from Lookers Chelmsford - I buy parts there but take the D3 (and my previous D2 & Freelander) to Lookers in Colchester (previously HR Owen) if it needs anything done.
