There's a good 06 (low tax) SE Auto with 68k sitting on Yeovil LR's forecourt at the mo. Very nice car it is too.
Blue though isn't it?

I would say that there is very little difference between a SE and a HSE. Don't discount the SE. if you particularly want the 4x4 screen then that can be enabled. Older SE's came with Xeons and they do make a big difference.
Mine goes off road a lot and is constantly full of kids and crap but it still feels tight. Mines on about 125k now. I'm intending to keep it forever. Enjoy!D3 HSE MY05 Auto

Only had our 05 GS for a few weeks and aside from the odd blemish to be expected from a five year old car it looks and feels like new. Had some problems unfortunately (discussed on this forum) but with LR warranty I am not too worried, just a little inconvenient. Absolutely awesome car, which I aim to keep for a few years.
I know that conventional wisdom appears to be to go for HSE or SE but I am not convinced. All about personal preference of course but the GS spec is right for us and not quite so much to break

I got a 2005 2.7 HSE auto with 118000 for 13k......looked at 2 sub 100,000 of the same age which were going for between 15-16k.....opted for the higher mileage one as 107000 timing belt service had been done and full LR main dealer history.
Has a few minor niggles that need doing....suspension bushes....parking sensors work 'on and off'.....and needs new tyres but overall I think it was a good buy....
Probably sell it in 12 months and upgrade to a 2007 car

I would say it would still be worth buying, but I buy on condition first, colour, mileage and spect afterwards. I looked at a few. Drove three and bought the third one. I wanted sunroofs, silver or black, heated leather, rear air con and top of the range sound system with nav. Found an HSE with all the boxes ticked for the max I wanted to pay and at my local dealer so went for it.
Running cost wise, similar service bills to my Defender, and the D3 and the Defender are both more expensive to service and maintain than my BMW M5
Awesome cars. I've done nearly 14k in mine since May last year and got 3 Euro driving trips planned for 2011 in it. Can't wait.

The discovery 3 is an excellent car, does everything and more, and because of that its worth putting up with the 30mpg tops.
