Also, if you happened to know someone pretty well in the service department of some main dealer,(regardless of brand) you could ask them about the scheme. That way you'd get both sides of the story, as I'm sure the rep for Mapfre would paint the prettiest picture of their services to you, the end customer.
I'd be very interested in hearing the garage's take on the scheme, if possible.

I've been in "talks" with one of the guys in my local LR dealer, so I might try and get his thoughts on the whole thing
I don't know if this is in all the pdfs, but this is what qualifies your vehicle for the particular warranty
1. FREEdom - For vehicles under six years old, with less than 100,000 kms travelled
2. FREEway - For vehicles under 10 years old, with less than 160,000 kms travelled
3. FREEway LITE - For vehicles under 10 years old, with less than 200,000 kms travelled

Very interesting, didn't realise there was any option on this at all over here.

Hi tanters,
yeah, I decided to do a bit investigating to see what (if anything) is out there in terms of extending an LR warranty in Ireland, and zebadee (I think ) found a flyer for a crowd called Mapfre, so I said I'd get in touch with them. You can see from previous posts that up to that point, it wasn't looking good at all, but we might be on to something here
More info to follow

And I'd say tanters just overlooked your own posts and contributions to this endeavour - he's a top bloke he is -sure he's even bringing over a sump guard and D3 grille for me, from across the waters
Mmmmm the far side of the "Cat Flap" can be a bit iffy at times

The "Cat Flap" eh?, that's a new one on me But (and I know this is borderline blasphemy ) I'm more of a rugby head, than hurlin', so wouldn't move in the same circles where such lingo would be common place
And TwelveSticks, I know Adam is a hard man to nail down but if you try him again about the CC and throw in a few "well buoy's", I'd say you might have better luck
Anyway........
Called up to the local dealership today and was talking to one of the service guys who told me that they know of Mapfre and are a reputable crowd, but they themselves don't have an account with Mapfre - they looked into it a while back but they said it wouldn't be worth it, for reasons he wouldn't divulge Basically, if I needed any repairs done under the extended warranty, I'd have to pay for them myself first and claim back off of Mapfre, once Mapfre gave the go ahead for the repairs in the first place. If you're lucky enough that your local dealer has an account with Mapfre then all you'd do is drop in the LR, get it repaired and pick it up again - just like a standard warranty.
I'm waiting for the Mapfre guy to get back to me on the questions that zebadee mentioned earlier, so when I know more I'll post up again

Aye, it's the nickname that seems to have been put on the new toll bridge.
Something to do with the "cats" crossing it into Waterford. So I guess like a "Cat Flap" in a door to allow a cat access to & from the house.
TBH, it doesn't make much sense to me, but the name seems to have stuck !
BTW, kudos for all the research you're doing on the extended warranty situation

The "Cat Flap" actually makes a lot of sense now - Cheers
One of the reasons I'm looking into all this is that my last 3 motors have all been under warranty when I went to change, so I never really had to worry about "out of the ordinary repairs" but considerng the "current economic climate" as they say, there's not a hope of me changing anytime soon, and with the EGR just after being replaced, I'm trying to weigh up the possibility of an extended warranty Vs hope for the best
I've never had a 4x4 before let alone a Discovery 3 ( which I think is the business ) so even when I do change again it'll defo be a Disco and I thought why not get some advice and direction from you guys on the forum here - and if it adds to the knowledge base, and can help out someone (like I've been helped out on numerous occassions already) - all the better
Cheers

Yeah I totally get where you're coming from on this.
I'm in the same boat, my '08 Disco, "Dave" is here to stay for a while & is due to have it's warranty expire this June.
So like you I'll have to weigh up the options.

Somehow off topic, but any good LR dealers in Dub? I've Googled a few, though a reference will help with my "new" 05 Disco.
Thanks!
