I'm sure one of our members fitted some Koni dampers to their D3 ages ago.
I am still not happy with the ride on my D3 since I took it to Morocco, the corrugations and very high temperatures played hell with the suspension. Guy Salmon have replaced a broken rear shock absorber under the warranty which stopped the worst of the bouncing around, but the car is still banging and crashing over moderate bumps. It definitely has lost its magic carpet ride.
My gut feeling is that all the dampers are weak. Warranty is running out later this year, and to be honest I think I would rather upgrade the dampers to a more robust model myself instead of arguing for another set of stock dampers under the warranty.
Koni do a damper for the D3 known as the FSD, it would appear a full set is £595.
Anyone got any experiences of fitting these?

Hi, can you replace shocks with old man emu shocks, or do I need to stay at LR shocks?

So far, I have only considered the Koni option. I'm not sure if any other manufacturers make shocks for the D3. Koni list the D3 in their catalogue.

Bilsteins do them too and if you search you will find some Greek ones on the forum. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Hi Gareth
TFC , CHRISTYLER and BABEN have fit the Greek dampers so you have to ask them
I have also fit them and the result is unbelievable control and stability, precise handling, ultimate performance without sacrificing ride comfort.

fitted on my D3 one month ago because i came back from Morocco last novembre with both rear shocks completely washed out.
very enthusiastic of this new technology.
in normal driving it's like the genuine.
in fast driving there is no more rebound after a jump ...
nice product, i fell better the way i take
! highly recommended !
next month i'll test them in Egypt, bring back a picture of the swimming cave for you ...

Never experienced them on a D3, but I did have a Fabia vRS once. Was contemplating a suspension upgrade, and everyone was raving about Koni FSD's on said car.
A guy local to me had one with them fitted, so met up and he took me for a run in it. Didnt really notice much of a difference in ride quality, until I got back into my car and went the same route. Was more fidgety (sp?) and was a lot more harsh bumps etc.
In the end, I never bothered with them, as they were quite expensive and I was already thinking of selling up, but if I was keeping it, they would have been on... My D3 Build Thread
