I have the Thule 9705. The uprights, arms and bike mountings etc are identical to the 9708 but it is for the fixed type towbar so the mounting is different. They are strong and well made though I have never tried it with as many as 4 bikes on it. Remember that you cannot tow with this model (9708) - that's why I went for the 9705 which leaves the towball free. However the 9708 should not affect your departure angle. The 9705 has a fixed plate that protrudes below the towbar making the already poor departure angle (due to fixed towbar) much worse.

Both versions allow the bike rack to be slanted backwards so you can get access through the rear door.

Thanks for your reply Dave

They sound quite good for the price, would you advice getting a Thule lightboard 976 or do you think the lights will be visible enough?

cheers

I went for a wheel support type of rack, they keep everything a lot more stable and well away from your paint. The actual one I went for was a Pendle via e bay, can't remember the shop.

Hi

These days the police seem pretty sharp on obscured rear lights/obscured number plate I just use a cheap lighting board from my local car parts shop number plate + board you should get both for about £30
Home made number plates are also not a good idea either I read somewhere on this forum that the fine is now £60 for a non-compliant number plate.

Looks like a Thule or a good version of one. I had on of those for two bikes, very impressed.

I have one of those but for 3 bikes, I have also used it on my motorhome as a 'platform' to carry my motorbike on when going to South of France as the bikes have their own rack Thumbs Up

Great piece of kit, and when not in use can hang on the garage or shed wall Wink

The Thules do look and reviews are good but for a 4 bike one my funds cant stretch that far, so I might go for the Mottez.

Unless anyone is thinking of selling a 4 bike rack Whistle
