same as a multiplexer .
ie ...CCTV camera set up ....you can see multiple video pictures on a screen ...but you only get one output to record .
surround camera module lets you watch 5 cameras at once ....but you dont have 5 wires going to the screen.Thats why i said you would have to set the camera's first ....the module would work out all the multiple camera side ...then just send out one signal to the screen .G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Now Wiggs I didn't say I didn't believe you........I was just trying to get my head round it.
So if that's the comp. output from the camera box, how does the touch screen select the camera source? Is there a control protocol coming into the box on that multipin to the left of the output?2011 D4 Landmark, Mini Cooper SD Clubman, Range Rover Vogue SE

touch screen will be sending signals back to the camera box via the can bus .
The person whos car it was was touching the touch screen (nav screen in car )...bearing in mind the touch screen was blank as we had disconnected it ( picture wise ) he knew were the buttons should have been G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Is it possible to use signals to make "black box recorder" for some type? Does this module continue working and sending signals to head unit after exiting the camera menu?
My idea is to use cameras (all if it's possible) for video recording - as logger or vehicle recorder.

If the cameras are always live to the car multiplexer you could splice them before they go into it,
giving you individual camera feeds in full pic,
This could then be put into a vehicle based DVR, recording each channel independently, as used on buses etc.
That is if the cameras are a standard analogue composite feed.

That's what I meant.
Unfortunately, I can not check it out if the cameras are live or not, 'cause I've not yet received my D4 MY12. I hope
wiggs knows the answer.

That is the idea. The same case - writing all the channels simultaneously.

I know Wiggs has claimed this device but could you give me some details about it, ie make and model as it sounds like the sort of thing that would come in handy on a project I'm working on.Cheers Ian

Interesting but I am looking at a D4 SE, small screen. I would like to put in a large touch screen controling an in car PC.
Rather than moving the small screen I would like to have to small screen as a separate screen input. What is the input signal to the small (non touch) screen?“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€
