Just done an online quote at WD....£938.58 SecureCare, £716.20 MajorCare. That's on a 56,000 mile manual S of 11/2004 vintage.

Took WD last February...
Extra Care, wear + tear, no betterment £450.
Had to claim for O/S ball joint
£50 excess
- 10% betterment !!!
Main dealer rate paid
Whilst this was being done they found the N/S ball joint needed doing
another £50 excess and
- £10% betterment
Then claimed for alternator failure
£50 excess
- 20% betterment (higher mileage now)
Local independent could not change the alternator in the .7 hours allotted book time so I had to pay an extra £48 labour.
Then there's the hassle of getting the vehicle in for diagnosis which they won't cover, then getting authorisation, paying for the repair and then claiming back the cost making sure that for each claim you must provide the latest MOT and service invoice.
I wish now I had gone for another LR warranty. With all the extras from WD, the LR cost would have been very close and it would have been a simple process...
I complained about the "betterment" deductions and got a standard letter saying all was in order and the case was closed.
Just got my renewal notice.
Extra Care
Wear and Tear
Network labour rate £60ph
£517.50
Not sure what I am going to do yet....
Just been looking at Kam's offerings (WarrantyUK). Price is good but not read the small print yet. Too much too small to read on a netbook.nil admirari
I've got their Luxury Care policy with:
Franchised dealer labour rate
£0 excess per claim
No parts contribution (no betterment option)
Airbags and emissions cover
Off road use covered (otherwise you're not covered as per point 4 of the 'What is not insured?' section of the policy document)
Genuine parts only (no reconditioned and no cheap replacements)
ICE & SatNav cover
£535 (+ paying over 10 interest free monthly payments)The End
After getting a quote for over £800 and several sales calls which were silent - ie nobody at the end of the phone, I found the following in my spam folder just now
Quote:
We suffered a major IT failure this weekend which resulted in our dialler system starting itself and making a number of outbound calls and our records show that your number was one of them.
We are contacting you to apologise for any inconvenience that may have been caused to you and your household.
We aim to provide a highly professional and exceptional level of service and are extremely concerned about this incident. We have already implemented changes this morning to ensure that this will never happen again.
We hope that you will still consider us for the provision of your warranty and would like to offer you a 20% discount as some small degree of compensation for any intrusion caused.
Yours faithfully,
Duncan McClure Fisher
Managing Director
At least they had the balls to apologise and offer me 20% off......might be worth pestering them for a discount if they can give 20% so quickly to so many!!!

The problem with the LR one is that at a "higher" mileage (for normal people ) above 60K they start refusing items because of fair wear and tear... 2020 SDV6 D5 HSE, Carpathian Grey +

i dont get it. i have called a few times for a 2009 V8 HSE - was brand new at the time and since for a RRS V8 HSE and they quoted me over a grand per car. Best i got them down to was 800 quid. Seem odd given how more reliable the petrol engines are
