Despite having a G4 I would maybe start by considering what you want the vehicle to do and then look for the right products. If you have a G4 then keeping it original-ish may (to some) seem sensible but if you start with a naked Disco would you really want an Expo roof rack or would you look at alternatives and would you want a hidden winch?
Best of luck and keep us informed of what you start spending your money on.

You can find some parts on ebay quite often, light guards is one that springs to mind. Expo racks are difficult to buy as they are not manufactured at the moment AFAIK, but I think they are about to be again TLO will no doubt be able to confirm.
RAI - You're only real option here is from a main dealer.
A Bars do come up 2nd hand on ebay, but check they have the fitting kit as these can't be bought after market (unless someone has started making them) you can get the brackets from RLD though (brackets are for the top of the A Bar and are not the same as the fitting kit.
RLD makes a winch mount, so you can get that from Ray, but you'll still need a winch, plasma rope, fairlead and a winch mount bumper (unless you cut yours) you'll also need a winch mount sumpguard. Again as far as I know only Mantec make a winch mount sump guard, but Ray might advise differently.
It is worth checking out the Mantec site as they made a lot of the G4 accessories.
The spot lights are Hella HID (from the youngest G4 vehicles) and these are stupidly expensive about £300 a light ISTR. and you'll probably want at least 4 for the rack and possibly another 2 for the A Bar. I personally would consider a cheaper option.
Ladders are no longer made as far as I know so Ebay and keeping an eye on here is probably the best option.
The tyres on a G4 are Goodyear MTR's and these are easily sourced on here etc.
One thing you will struggle with is with the electronic locking rear diff, it's a very difficult thing to fit after market. I only know one person who did it and 1 - They were very knowledgable and 2 - They spent a lot of time sourcing the parts. Also they had a fault mate to enable it.
I think it all depends on how far you want to go. I'm gradually getting mine to have some of the G4 bits on it, but I'm not trying to make it into a G4, I'm just selecting bits that I want and doing a few things my own way at the same time. Good luck with it!D3 HSE MY05 Auto

Also remember that none of the aforementioned parts (except the Hella HIDs) are really G4 parts at all....
The are all standard LR accessories. It just so happens that the D3 HSEs used by Land Rover for the G4 challenge had almost every single accessory fitted to them
What I mean is that if you try searching ebay or asking in your dealer for G4 parts you may be limiting your options.
Obviously things like G4 decals etc are specific, but the rest are just standard LR accessories 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE AutoBuckingham Blue 2007 Golf GT DSG

I think it's worth considering what you actually want from your car. You might find other racks are better for your needs for example. Plenty of people about to ask for advice, although you'll get plenty of different opinions. Although generally most people can agree on what's rubbish, it's just that they disagree on what is best. Just don't ask about Stoves, Winter tyres or split charge systems!D3 HSE MY05 Auto

Thanks for all the above it really helpful information!!!
To be clear I am NOT trying to to create a G4 replica but I like the look and want a car that can go deep offroad when I want it to. My base car is a very shiny Black D3 5-Seat Manual and I am imagining a G4 style car but in black but with rack, spots, mud tyres and stickers etc.

Personally I don't like them (no offence). If you want a car for offroading then you don't really need a rack etc. Get some decent tyres and a sumpguard and you're sorted.D3 HSE MY05 Auto

Agreed but I am afraid I am a sucker for getting the look right even if I don't really need all the bits for practical reasons
