Generator output
Hello,
I have a question concerning battery charging. Will the generator compensate for any other electrical
gadgets and still charge the battery at max rate or would the recharge be higher without them?
A generater output of 150 Amps sounds quite adequate.
Thanks,

on tickover, the Alternator generates around 50amp, up to 150 when running.
This should be enough to charge the battery AND have the various electronic gadgets running at the same time. However, it would charge quicker without them on as the power is not needing to go elsewhere.
But with 150a yoiu would be hard pushed to really notice the difference except if the battery was already low charge.Bodsys Brake Bible

Thanks for the reply.
Maybe without the gadgets turned on the generator would just not output so much. I would think you cannot charge the battery with however much load you have "left" from the generator. The surely is a limit.
Woulde be nice to have an Amp meter to watch the charge of the battery as I
think it tells us more on the battery charge rate than Volts.

Hi,
I have just bought a 200Amp AC/DC Clamp Meter for exactly this reason. The trouble is that I don't have a lot of "toys" to turn on.
