character is dead right; there are a number of negative comments regarding Before-n-After.

I had my D3 treated by Rustmaster when new:-

who have premises in Hatfield, AL10 9BB and Mobberley, WA16 7EQ .

I was very pleased with the job they did.

But please buy another Land Rover

Not as a main car, I'll be keeping my D3 as a second car and offroader/beer & sand trip car but not as our day to day transport. I've driven LRs since 1981, owned them most of the time since 1988, have owned 15 (if I remember correctly) but the amount of problems I've had in the last 4 years has put me off the brand big time. I don't know what I'd get as a main car as most of the "quality" brands seem to have their own problems. Sad

I know lots of people have had no or limited problems but that's not my experience.

Well X5 aside Wink

In Europe I believe the saloon/touring is available in the form of the 530X which uses the same 4 wheel drive setup. LHD only as BMW UK have no plans to import. (Expensive too - X5 prices ISTR)

Hi,so are you saying this would be better than a D4? My current car is a 5 series M sport saloon and totally no use for anything other than cruising, had 6 bags of sand in the back in winter and it was still sliding about and had no traction. I understand saying that it would be better if it was 4 x 4 and a saloon but this would not be a proper off roader or any good from what I can gather in the snow if it was anything like the Audi 4 wheel drive. if you were going BMW 4 x 4 then surely it would be X5 but all reviews I have read say that D4 is a better all rounder and just slighly behind the X5 as far as a cruiser. I wouldnt spend the money on an X5 anyway.

My D4 will be an all round work/ family car and as yet, I see no reason to think that it wont perform this task but I undertand people's concerns over fuel etc I have been told the 2011 model has addressed a lot of issues from earlier models.

Sorry if I am coming over all blunt and I am a total 4 x 4 newbie so hands up to this Smile

I know as part of my "deal" they are giving me some sort of protection for paint and interior, cant remember the name, it was advertised in a D4 when I was in the dealers last week, they apply it and give me the stuff away too, not sure if it is applied to the under carriage though...

Unfortunately we hear this year in, year out from dealers. It's what they do!

What was unexpected for me was on 2 factory tours I asked the question "What happens if at a station doesn't have a gizmo to fit in the time slot?", answer was "nothing, the car continues down the line". I then asked "Does it get logged and go for rectification?", answer was along the lines of "nope, only rectified if it obvious or stops the car driving off at the end.". Another worrying sign was at the end of the line said "Do not drive off without oil!" or word to that effect, meaning they have been doing that? Shocked

Hmmm, I would imagine they will have "quality" checks or "non conformances" at the very least. A car manufacturer could not allow itself to do what you say with proper systems in place and I would imagine the "put oil in it or else" sign will just be a sign as I've described. It probably has happened at some point though...

Of course I'm just biased, I have to be picking my new one up next week Mr. Green
