Safety Recall P021 - MY07 to MY09 Disco3 TDV6 |
|
Hi Folks,
Having had my High Pressure Fuel Pump replaced on FOUR occasions, I thought you might be interested in this.
Today I received a notice from Land Rover Australia on "Safety Recall P021" - which was completed on my car from Tuesday - Thursday this week. The dealer service rep tells me this is a replacement from Safety Recall P008.
Details are same as for P008 - "... your vehicle may experience poor engine performance, fuel smell, engine noise, a fuel leak onto the rear of the engine or fuel leak onto the ground as a result of the front seal failing due to poor lubrication and excessive wear of the high pressure fuel pump bearing."
It goes on to say "... this issue is more likely to occur when the air temperature is high and/or poor quality fuel is used." So this may not affect D3s in UK/Europe until it warms up... come on global warming! 8)
Anyhow - you heard it here first. (I searched on P021 earlier and got no hits).
Since having the HPFP replaced as a part of P021 - my motor is a lot quieter.
Cheers,
Rob

Hi Rob,
My just 2 yr old my09 is 6 weeks into a heart transplant, having had a 'catastrophic engine failure' of unknown cause.
When I enquired about the vin numbers for the original recall, I was told in no uncertain terms that mine was ok.
Now wonder if this could have been the cause of my problem.
I found the p021 recall under land rover recall p021. It was actually dated yesterday (11th).
Will have to get onto the garage to make sure that the new pump with the new engine is the correct one.
Apparently due to be ready next week. I hope.
Brendan(service manager at Blacklocks, Albury) I will be on the phone to you 8am Monday, If you are watching this!
Thanks for the timely posting Rob
Regards Julia

took mine into the local dealer following a recall letter for the bearing, I was experiencing none of the symptoms mentioned. probably because the temperature here rarely gets above the mid teens for any length of time. When I had the car back I had all of them........had to call LR assist out to try and stop the diesel leaks, who then identified various other mistakes had been made during the replacement process.
Two things sprang to mind...if it aint broke dont fix it, and dont let baboons play with your disco..... 2007 TDV6 HSE 'Silver Lady'. With 'free' privacy glass LOL.
Taking the greenpi$$ is: Green taxing your citizens more & using some of the money to buy nukes.
