Various lights and messages :(

Basically my car comes up with "special programs off" then "HDC turned off" then "parking brake failure" then "suspension lowered" and the car goes down on the bump stops, happened once on wednesday, turned it off and re-started and it was fine all day didn't think much of it, just one of those things, and then i think it happened about 10 times over the course of the day yesterday, really annoying, also various light coming on, ABS light, and others although can't remember what they are will take a pic when/if it happens today, wouldnt be so annoying but it drops the suspension so have to turn it on and off to get the suspension back up!

Any ideas appreciated!

Check your brake light bulbs
Other things that cause the same are brake light switch, faulty ABS / speed sensor or problems with the wiring loom.
Had this ourselves recently, was the wiring in the end with ours.

What part of the wiring was it as I have the same problems on the moment. I don't have the problems standing still but as soon as I move within 10 meters I get all the messages and bongs.
The problems is that I am in east off the Czech Republic and about 1200 km from home. I can go to a LR garage on tuesday but my Czech is not as good.
Luckely I have a faultmate so I can keep my suspension up and clear the faults but the fault come straight back.
This is the list:

HIGH SPEED CAN

TERRAIN RESPONSE:- 2 FAULTS
-:U0416
-:U0421
INSTRUMENT PACK:- 0 FAULTS
PARK BRAKE:- 1 FAULTS
-:U0122
ENGINE MANAGEMENT:- 2 FAULTS
-:P0500
-:C0031
AIRBAG:- 0 FAULTS
REAR DIFFERENTIAL:- 0 FAULTS
AIR SUSPENSION:- 1 FAULTS
-:U0416
STEERING ANGLE:- 0 FAULTS
TRANSFER BOX:- 2 FAULTS
-:U0122
-:P2787
AUTO BOX:- 1 FAULTS
-:P0500
ANTILOCK BRAKES:- 1 FAULTS
-:C1A91
ADAPTIVE LIGHTING:- 1 FAULTS
-:U0400

MEDIUM SPEED CAN

AUDIO HEAD UNIT:- 0 FAULTS
BODY CONTROL:- 0 FAULTS
HEVAC:- 0 FAULTS
PARK DISTANCE:- 0 FAULTS

Looking at the details I think my faults point to a communication problem.

Thanks in advance.

I had the same happen to me today, first goes ok and after a couple of times *braking* the car goes to the bump stops and three lights on the dash. Also the HDC Fault message came up.

Went to dealer, diagnosis was brake light switch. They replaced it on the spot and the problem had gone. Finding it in their parts dept took longer than replacing, 2 minute job.

The techie explained that suspension, ABS system and some more systems all interact with the the brake light switch. Therefore a faulty brake light switch will cause Christmas tree effects. You will not notice directly because the fault has to be recorded a number of times before the tree lights come on. I noticed after about 2 kms driving away from home so maybe 10 brake instances.

Roel, I see transfer box and adaptive lighting faults in your log, I wouldn't know how that would interact with the brake system.

regards,

Wiljo
