Fuel Burning Heater

Since the temp has begin to tumble, I've been waiting for my FBH to fire up but alas nothing. Has anyone had experience of them failing and if so any ideas re common problems, cost etc. I realise the question is generic and it could be one of a thousand reasons, but was hoping there is a common / quick fix issue that crops up.

Ever the optimist

Unfortunately, the reasons are many and varied.

Before resorting to outside assistance, check that you satisfy the 'controllable' criteria:

1) plenty of fuel in the tank (>1/4 tank)
2) plenty of battery power
3) all the doors and bonnet shut properly
4) parked on level surface (<5 deg 'nose down')

On earlier vehicles like yours (and mine), if the FBH gets 3 false starts due to any of the above, it locks up. This either means a trip to the stealers or call in someone who actually knows how to solve it.

Thanks for the advice, hope its locked out as suggested as I'm guessing this will be the cheaper of the many alternatives.

I've just had mine diagnosed as needing a new fuel-sender pump, about a 2 hour job at the dealers. Fourtunately TLO was able to give me a good discount, good man Bow down
