LR Cruse Control fitted by dealer - is it Possible? |
|
Hi,
New to NG and hopefully new owner soon of a D3.
Question - hope its in the right section.
If I get a D3 it will most likely be a stock model, and there fore I will have little say on getting options fitted.
I intent to get the TDV6, auto gearbox and Air Suspension.
I would really like to get Cruse Control as well, by if its a from stock car, it most likely won't hace CC fitted.
Is it possible for the Dealer to fit the CC to the D3 in his workshop? Are all the wires in the car for it - just plug in the steering control unit?
I have obviously asked the dealer, but if he is lazy, he may just say it can't be done (or forgewts to ask and gives me the same answer).
I currently have a Peugeot 407 and the dealer was able to fit the CC for me just before delivery.
I suspect that it is just a software switch on etc?
Am I right?
Thanks

It's been discussed a few times before, and I think the conclusion is that it can't practically be retrofitted. It's very easy to fit the radio buttons to a base model though - there's a thread here by andy (alinton) with pictures on how to do it. IE - 05 D3 TDV6 HSE - Zambezi Silver
SA - 07 VW Golf TDI - White - Sold!

Hi,
Thanks for the reply, I spent nearly all of last night looking through the threads on the site, there is such a vast amount of stuff, I did'nt actually come across the info on cc being retrofitted. I did, however come across the radio button thread, don't know if I'd want to mess with the air bag though....
See ya,

Hi DC-99
My D3 is an Australian spec 5 seater base model that had the air suspension option installed (ex factory). It also has cruise control and Terrain Response which both come as part of air suspension package.
I don't know the model range in your country but look at the air suspension models as I assume they will have the cruise control already.
I couldn't be happier with the car after 11000 km of ownership. Sure I have had a few (2) warning messages about suspension but neither stopped the car. The auto transmission coupled with the TDV6 is one very desirable package.

As mentioned above, the radio buttons thread will tell you how to fit the cruise control steering wheel buttons.
However you will need the LR software 'enabled' to be able to use these functions.
At a guess (!), it #is# something that could be 'switched on' in Testbook, if the technician knows where this is and what to do.
However, I seem to recall that (over 1 year ago) there was a thread about someone (Roddy?) who had this done by the dealer for a small amount, and it ended up being an absolute pig of a job to work out.
Have a good comb back through archive postings and good luck.
As I say, I'm sure it's technically possible, but equally sure that it will flummox most dealer technicians. Worth asking though- the buttons are around £35 so not a huge amount wasted if you want to try... Discovery 3 tdv6 7 seat Buckingham Blue

A friend tried this, but LR would not support it, the dealer was happy to do it but needed help from LR who would not provide it. DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone
