Engine humming noise
A distinctive humming noise can be heard coming from the engine compartment, this only happens when the engine speed is about 1900 rpm and throttle is under part-load.
The car only done 2000 miles and this only just happened since last week, I have checked as many heat shields and mounts as I possibly could and they all seemed fine.
Any thoughts or suggestions from you guys would be highly appreciated.
Cheers

Strange that, I've been getting almost the same on my D3 for a while now, when I say almost, on mine it happens at about 1500rpm, but otherwise it's just as you describe, (except for a much higher mileage.) Also seems entirely engine speed dependent regardless of gear selected or road speed.
When I first noticed it, I thought it might be related to the torque converter, some kind of imbalance due to crud build-up perhaps, but since then I've had a megaflush and it made no difference at all to the noise.
I wonder if it's one of those things that the dealer will either fail to notice or just say, yes they all do that
It's got no worse over 10k or so on mine, so now I simply ignore it, still puzzling though? I'm just hoping it's not something that will jump up and bite me in the bum somewhere down the line.Clive
I have noticed mine makes a humming noise if I am doing 40mph and its in a high gear (possibly 6th). It goes away if I knock it into "Sport mode" and then back into "Drive"
I thought at first it hummed because it didn't know the words? Run silent, run deep!! HM Submarines Conqueror, Churchill, Renown, Ocelot, Porpoise, Onslaught.
