HDD Sat Nav
We have new D4 on order - an XS - with HDD Sat Nav!
Any comments re this? How do you update it? How do you add POIs etc. Who's system does it use?
At present we us a Garmin 7200 - a brilliant piece of kit PLUS I have lifetime NUMAPS with full updates every 4 month!
Seems a pity not to be able to make the most of two worlds.LR Discovery 4 XS pulling an Airstream 532 Caravan also own (since new) a 1996 MGF

The system is Jag/LR, and doesn't allow the adding or uploading of POIs.
Map updates are done by the dealer, though updates are purchased via a website.

I have a HSE with the full sat-nav. How do you purchase updates and from what website?
Overall, by the way, I think the sat-nav is a very weak point of the D4. Far too complicated and much less clear than a lowly TomTom, and way behind the COMAND system on my last Merc.Paul

Has anyone determined whether or not you can upload a map from a different region now or is that option still unavailable? I have US maps living in Germany and LR Germany keeps telling me that they can not load Western European maps on my North American model. Any advice?

We had a sport at work (UK) that had Russia map loaded into it, required a new unit to fix the problem!

The LR HDD Satnav is a very expensive low functionality unit....! In Oz we dont even get the TMC because LR Australia is to cheap to buy a license from the provider in Australia.
TMC is different in Oz because it isn't licensed to a user it is licensed to hardware manufactures and it is free to end users, if you own licensed hardware.
When I travel I take my Garmin 1490T as its actually a better unit than the LR HDD Satnav. I can load routes and POI's on the Garmin from PC.
How hard would it be for LR to enable Route and POI uploads via the USB port?Discovery 4 SE Long range fuel tank Kaymar Rear Bar.
