Has anyone fitted 255/65 r19 tyres to a discovery 4. I have noticed you can get Duratracs in a 65 sidewall size and wondered if anyone has experience with these tyres?
Don't seem to see much on here about them and want to know if they do fit with standard suspension and no lift rods?
I have just fitted 30mm spacers if that helps.

They are also available in the standard size 255/55/19
They are too off road orientated for my needs, but a few on here run them. Try a search. 👍 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Cheers, yes appreciate you can get them in the standard size an dont need any mods. But that is why i asked about the larger ones as i would prefer those if i dont need lift rods

I’d suggest that you went down to 18” rims as an alternative strategy 👍 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

I’d prefer to keep on 19’s if possible. If the 255/65r19 duratracs don’t fit without rubbing etc. I’ll be getting the 255/55r19 duratracs. But if I had the choice without additional
Mods I’d choose the 65’s
So if anybody has them fitted or knows of people who have, please let me know

31” is the max diameter on the early D3’s , who happen to have more room than the later D4 as far as i know…
So if you need the higher side wall for better off-road, go to 18” Best regards

I’m after actual fitting results for a D4 - standard and/or lifted (rods or LLAMS). Not theoretical “may, should, won’t, etc). Cheers

31” is max… what you want is 32.1”
It is not difficult to fill in the calculator LT linked to….
D4 has the same OR less room than a D3…. What is difficult about that? Best regards

There are plenty running 265/65R18s which is on 12mm smaller than 255/65R19.
The 265/65R18 is 31.6”.
Hence my question.
As I said, I want evidence. Not theory please.

The best “evidence” I’m aware of is Johnson Rod’s reference table for specific tires and rims at http://johnsonrods.com/johnson_rods_new_005.htm. Note the statement of rubbing above 31.5” on LR4/D4.
While the tires you want are 32.1”. you might notice from the table that all combinations exceeding 31.46” seem to require lift rods. IOW, larger sizes than that will rub in certain positions when the wheel is turned all the way to the left or right.. or something.

Hi, I did actually buy them and have them fitted for around two weeks. Bought Johnson rods 3” lift on front with 2.5” lift on the rears. I did get plenty of rubbing so sold them to Steve on here who then had them fitted to his new defender which I believe they fit fine on.
The increase sidewall is Not worth the hassle of having to cut bits of bumper and steel members away in my opinion.
