Has anyone else noticed how many D4's are driving around at night without at least a few dim or completely dud red LED's that make up the red outer circles on the 4 rear lights? If these are part of the "signature look" it's starting to appear there might be a problem as it ruins the effect.

I have seen two D4s with this, I didnt want to mention it, but how will they ever know if we dont tell them of course. We do light checks for towing but I guess the majority would never know until MOT time. Captain Nick Medhurst would ask:
"What is the first rule when overlanding?"

Which part of the lights are the supposed duds?
If it's some on the nearest edge to the tailgate then it can give an appearance that there is not a 'full' circle of lights from certain angles. 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

From certain angles, the shape of the lens makes the inside edge (as DG says) LEDs look more blurred. The lens in front of the rest of the LEDs is completely flat so they shine brightly.

I realise that from some angles the circles might be obscured or slightly dim but what I'm talking about is faulty or missing LED's at random positions. I seem to be seeing a lot recently? Last night I followed a black D4 onto the EuroTunnel. It was bling'ed up to the max with loads of chrome and very shiny. I didn't have the heart to tell him his rear lights looked like pie charts with random slices missing. They appear to fail in segments and once you start to notice, you'll see this is happening to a lot of D4's?
I mention this one simply because I had a long time to study it from directly behind. The failed segments were at 2 o'clock on the top offside, 9 o'clock on the top nearside and 12 o'clock on the bottom nearside. I should have taken a photo but didn't think at the time. Thing is, this was one of many I've noticed recently that have similar segments missing.
As Dave says, if we don't mention it, how will they ever know? 2005 D3 HSE

OK....I've never noticed this.....let's hope it isn't a common problem, because it certainly isn't as easy as changing a bulb over at a quid a pop. 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

Checked mine too and all ok. Not had any comments from our Service team regarding it being a regular issue but will keep an eye out for any reports.

D3 LED's look like the light pack can be replaced. Behind mine is an upper n lower cap held in with screws, so maybe can be replaced. Anyone know if they can?, although mine are fine.

£100 is better than a NEW D4 light set at £250 onwards though.
Thanks for the info Wiggs, glad I went D3 LED's if there could just be a problem with D4's

I checked mine after seeing this thread and found that whilst they are all working, from various angles some can appear to disappear or get blurred out by the outer glass.
