Bodsy, at the moment the "rules" as discussed above seem to suggest that, for example, we cannot mention a link to other brands of kennel as there is a site sponsor who supplies them. However, although there is no site sponsor of, for example, footwear, we cannot mention a link to a footwear supplier.
So my suggestion for discussion above is actually more liberal. A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

But if I found an alternative 'product' at a better price & more functionality, wouldn't you want to know about it? even without the links? Bodsys Brake Bible

As I said earlier, there are no restrictions on who you may discuss - with the one exception - there is no problem with non-sponsor products being discussed or linked to (see the eBay & Bargain Spots forum for proof).
Posting a link to any product should, as is usual and happens in the vast majority of cases, be done as part of a discussion about that product or similar products, not as an effort to promote that product (we will find you out!)
The site's commercial posting rules purely state that promotional posts are not allowed from the businesses themselves (or their representatives/agents/etc), they don't restrict discussion of non-sponsor items. 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

If we take another couple of steps away from the problem, we can then see that links to anything at all are superfluous so long as there are sufficient key words mentioned to allow Google and Co to find it for us. A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. I for one have no idea what was said in the past, but given that I have been a member here for the last 6 months it is presumably some time ago.
I have to say this attitude strikes me as childish and petty and frankly if my kids had this attitude they would get short shrift.
I appreciate it is Martins site and he can make the rules, but ultimately it is made up of the members. No members no site. Mark.

So how can you possibly comment

Are you talking about some other forum perhaps ?

DG.
I can't comment on the things that obviously upset some.
What I can comment on is the current childish attitude of the owners/mods of the site.
As has been amply demonstrated again in your reply.
Yes 12000 odd members. And no doubt growing. But for how much longer if this continues. Mark.

Nobody mentioned active users ...however that is the number registered. Do other forums distinguish
Some have obviously been feeding Angelfire to stir it up. 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

DGs 'stirring up' would be in reference to a 3 week old thread on this topic being reopened
I've PMd as it's not clear what Angelfire disagrees with, as I stated a few things in this thread, so hope to sort that quickly. 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

So what's the definition of a member then ...do they have to be active or can they choose to just read the forum as and when without participating. And ....are there differing levels within the active status Who is the most active and do they deserve a shiny badge 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
