Hi new to this but has any one noticed a knock coming via the steering column. If so is it known problem or am I going to get a mystified look from local dealer?

Hi Ken,
It is a known problem, my car has been at the dealership for a few problems today, a steering knock being one of them. They rang me at lunch time to tell me that they had found the fault and there was also a Land Rover Technical bulletin on it too. They have had to order a replacement section (lower section) of the steering column - unfortunately it is on back order at the moment. They said they will let me know as soon as they have the part.

Does anyone know what's the TSB number for this issue?
My 2006 LR3 steering is starting to do the same horrible knock.

I get a single loud knock when turning the wheel to full lock in access mode - doesn't make the noise at normal height

Mine does this - a very loud knock, again only at access height. It seems to be getting worse, too... Disco 5 HSE Lux

I had this effect for the first time today. Even if it is "normal" in access mode, is it bad? Is it something to avoid?

We also get this knock but it only seems to appear when in access mode. Is it something that we should be concerned about and has anyone had it investigated by the Dealer?

These are different 'knocks'. I would describe the effect that I have as more of a rattle from the steering column over bumps at normal height. What we have here are a pair of differing knockers! Discovery 3 'S' Bonatti Grey.

It only happens when on full lock say when reversing out of a mother and baby space at Sainsburys . But it doesnt do it all the time, we have only heard it 3 or 4 times but when it does do it, it sounds like something is falling off the steering/suspension as it is quite loud and graunchy.
