iPhone App to read the forum.

I looked for a better way to read the forum om my iPhone rather than using safari where a lot of zooming is involved.
Searching on iTunes, I found several apps that supposedly should be able to read the phpBB fora, (the one this forum is using).
I tried some free ones like 'tapatalk' and 'forum runner' but they work with a list of fora and disco3.co.uk is not on it. perhaps the administrator has to install some plugin or something.
Does anyone have experience with such apps and did find one that works or knows how to make to ones I tried work?

I have limited understanding of this, but it was looked into on another forum I am on. The general consensus being that it would be a massive undertaking to get it to work on tapatalk. Could be different here though...

tapatalk is very very good. Depends how much the site owner has customized the standard phpbb that this forum runs on. Doesn't look to be a lot to be honest but who knows.

Would be a great addition though.

Unless things have changed, Tapatalk won't work with this site. I already discussed this with Martin. TouchBB is the app to use Thumbs Up

Evening

I have been working on an iPhone app for a few months now. I hope to put it into the app store in about four weeks.

It may not be the best forum reader app but is more of a hobby and some education for me.

I will keep you posted

I just tried TouchBB lite. It connects to the forum properly. One big flaw though: I doesn't show pictures in posts. Or am I doing something wrong. From the app description I read that it should display pictures. If it really can't show them it is not a workable solution. Does the pro version do a better job?

I use the www.disco3.co.uk/mo site. Basic but good for use on BB

TouchBB will work, but because post images have been customised to apply a maximum size/resize, they aren't compatible with TouchBB's reader Sad

Get Firefox Home from the app store you can sync all your bookmarks from your desktop pc with the your iphone and then just select a bookmark in your phone and it will open it up in F/fox Home, the Disco3 board works perfect all pictures can be viewed, it works as though your on your desktop pc.

Just takes 5 mins to setup and once it sync'nd to your phone your ready to surf.

Flack . Thumbs Up

I tried firefox home but I don't really see a difference as compared to the build in Safari browser?
I was looking for something in a more smartphone friendly layout where www.disco3.co.uk/mo is a bit too basic

Not sure why you think its not much different, its hard to tell when using f/fox home on your Iphone the difference between your normal pc view and the view you get on your phone.
Did you sync all your desktop bookmarks with your phone, once this is done disco3 opens just like it does on your desktop.

Flack Thumbs Up

Hi Flack,

Perhaps we have a small missunderstanding. Indeed Firefox home makes it look like on my desktop but so does Safari but I don't want it to look like on my desktop pc.
I would like the layout to be a bit more iphone friendly where there is no need to zoom in for text to be readable. So a special smartphone layout with smaller columns, a bigger font etc etc. or an app that does all that would be my wish this chirstmas.

Cheers.
Bernd
