Hi all , I'd appreciate your help with a problem a friend of mine has. His 2.7 TDV6 RRS has suffered with a vibration caused by the gearbox for some time and he recently decided to change it for a second hand replacement. This was bought from 24/7 spares and dispatched to a LR specialist in Ross to change. There were problems with the first replacement box which 24/7 replaced immediately. The second box install went ok mechanically but they have encountered an issue when it came to coding the gearbox to the car. Apparently their software cannot pair the two.
So, my question is has anybody else performed a swap before and encountered this problem or know anyone who can code a second hand box to the car ? All I have spoken with say that the dealers will only code new gearboxes to the vehicle.
Cheers in advance.

Any garage ought to be able to code/recode a gearbox if they have IDS
They possible can't if they are using Autologic
It would be no diferent to wiping and recoding an exisitng gearbox insitu (which I have had done)
Several indys have IDS available - mine in Cheltenham (Tim Fry) can, I don't know any in your area, so I guess it's phone around time, unless any one picks up on this thread Never get mad - get even !!
06 D3 now gone to family member and still going strong at 265k
previous vehicles:
04 D2 TD5 - (clocked 189k from new)
52 X-Trail 2.2 SVE

Your right. They have Autologic ! It would be good to find someone with IDS that would be willing to come out as the vehicle is at this independant in Ross. Or isn't IDS a mobile tool ?
