Anyone familiar with this removable winch mount |
|
Did anyone see this removable winch mount at work?

I wonder whether it could cope with all the forces that could come from pulling a D3 out of the mud at even a small angle?

I have used the same type of set up on a Disco 1 - with a mount front and rear straight on to the chassis, I only used it as an insurance policy ie - if I got stuck I could extract myself easily forwards or backwards - it was a real bonus being able to put the winch on either end (its often easier to go out the way you came than dragging yourself all the way through something.... and you only have one choice if the winch is fixed on the front...)
Admittedly a Disco 1 is lighter, but as long as it's all well made (if its designed for a Warn XP it should be) I can't see a problem. Is this a front mount - if so would be interested in getting one as well.
It's worth checking if the receiver is standard US 2" as then there are several winch trays available - I can dig mine out and photograph if required,

berndv the kit shown is for a Warn M6000, this will only give you
a 2.7 ton rating. I have a M9000 front mount, and even that takes
some serious strain in mud. Personally I would give it a miss for
mud. D3 bullbar-spots-roof rack with spots-ladder-long range tank-swing out spare wheel carrier- upgraded tow bar-dash console-internal water tank-duel awnings-drawer system & T T.

My germans is poor - but I think it says CE-M6000 to CE-9.5 XP?
isnt the 9.5XP the one that the full Disco Winch Kit comes with - I stand to be corrected?

If you start at www.offroad24.com you can choose your language and browse further in English. I had the page in English but strangely when using the direct link you get it in German.
There is this other product on their site: http://www.taubenreuther.com/?pli=10050550...iew=detail
which seems to be just a bracket but is twice as expensive as the winch mount with all the cables.
unfortunately the pictures raise more questions than they answer.

I considered this mount, but dumped it in favour of Uncle rays hidden mount.
I had a 9,5 ti on a warn crib, with steal wire rope I was straining to lift it, also the winch will take palce in the boot, and Murphys law says when you need it to pull a guy out of a snow drift, its in the boot under all the familys bags and ski boots.
So in the end I went for the hidden mount and a TDS 1200 winch.
My 5 cents

For winches on a removeable mount the plasma/synthetic rope is an essential to save weight....!!
I like the ability/option to winch back out the way I came from, so a winch on the back is often more useful.
Maybe I was selfish in that the winch is primarily for my use and wanted flexibility.
I am considering investigating the removeable front mount further on the Disco3- which ones did you look at?
I already have the 9.5Xp & tray, plus all the HD wiring from my old Disco1.
