Lowering after turning off? |
|
Hey all
I notice that every time I turn the car off (I am in normal height mode) and exit and lock it, within a couple of seconds the rear lets out air and lowers half an inch. Why? Normal or a sensor issue? Do you all see the same?

Hi,
My Disco doesn't just lower when locked sometimes it raises up.
I thought it is something to do with self levelling?!?
It is stated in the hand book that it will adjust it self after certain time criteria have passed.
Cheers

It is supposed to self level and check itself about every 2 hours, hence the hiss If it settles unevenly, then you may have an issue.
The car is built with a mini truck 'air dryer' system. This are supposed to stop moisture from building up in the air system and reserve tank. If the vehicle has been used in humid or wet conditions, the air tank which is underneath, may have some moisture inside. Trucks have tiny bleed valves underneath the air tanks, that the driver can bleed when neccessary. As yet I think on the D3 it is a dealer option only.

I've noticed this a lot - does anyone else think this is a bit dangerous? I for one wouldn't get under the car to check stuff if I thought there was any chance of it releasing a bit more gas and dropping an inch or two. It doesn't always seem to happen immediately.

I would NEVER get under any car, without proper jacking and stands. Basic health and safety.

No need to get underneath, the D3 is a fully sealed system, dealer only if work required.

First post after reading threads for a while.
My D3 has started to 'sink' over-night, until it is right down by the morning. When I start the car up all the indicators state it is still at normal road height, but soon as you drive off it is obvious that it is low down, though it soon corrects itself as it drives along. The other way to sort it out is to flick the lever and tell the car to raise from normal road height (so it takes it straight from low to high) and then flick the lever back to normal. Just a choice whether I want to bounce off the drive or drive off smoothly.

I suggest you have an air leak. Have you approached your dealer yet? How old is your car?

Bought from Guy Salmons in Knutsford, as I pass it everyday on the way to work (until end of July).
I have bought my previous Discoverys from Rockside in Bury, but they couldn't come up with a good deal on my D3 in the timescales I set - Next Day.... Tight you might say (or demanding)... well my TD5 died due to the Oil Pump falling off and the engine seized, which left me with no vehicle. So I wanted one straight away and Guy Salmon had a demonstrator available and so I got it from there. I've always used Rockside for any work needing doing on my Discovery, and they put a new engine in my TD5 at Land Rover Customer Services cost (as apparently a number of TD5 engines have gone that way).
