Hi Norto,
I'm sorry, but you're starting to become boring.
When are you going to realise that your experience was atyptical (and partly self-infilicted).
I hope that you're enjoying your Mitsubishi.
Best Wishes,

Norto,
thinking of a challenger as a second car. how have you found yours? “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Peter
Im not sure what you are smoking…….what part was self inflicted
The only thing I can think of is the transmission oil change
And im not convinced sin ATF is a problem,
Pennzoil or Penrite (whoever it was) run this oil in their Ford Territories that have the same ZF, 6 speed auto and have no problem.
Any vehicle that has had 20% of its turbo blowing and 20% of its diffs failing,
then replaced the failed diffs with the same part deserves to be ridiculed.
Some D3s are now having crankshafts break. LRs response is to put the
3L crankshaft in if this happens so they are saying that the original is not up to the task.

The Challenger is going well. I am currently in Ceduna heading to
the Canning Stock Route, so I will see how it performs in off road conditions
in the next few weeks. Pete

Ahhhhggggg cr@p - checked my diff this morning after 1 week of use, and it's f***ing leaking again!
Same side as before - the new drive shaft seal seems to be as poorly installed as the previous one.
I've had my doubts about my stealership before - but this pretty much confirms their inability to fix anything first time around!
Call in to service manager - will report back... 08 LR3 SE V8 - 02 D2 SE7 V8

Well, call from the stealership today, and they've fitted me yet another rear diff!
So that's diff # 3 in 65,000 miles.
Mysteriously the AC has developed yet another leak while at the stealership, and they are yet again replacing an AC hose.
This is failure #5 of the AC pipes/seals!!!!!
WTF????
Either way, I'm not going to pay a penny - it's ridiculous 08 LR3 SE V8 - 02 D2 SE7 V8

Have you got rear A/C? “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

A/C pipes to the rear corrode and leak- a known issue. As they are alloy maybe you should coat them in something. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Will take a look when it comes back.
It's so dry here in socal, I'd be shocked if the pipes could corrode in two years.
No salt, no snow, almost no rain!
Not sure if I can buy waxoyl here, will have to research.... 08 LR3 SE V8 - 02 D2 SE7 V8

If you don't have snow where you are and no salted roads it may not be your issue. The Poms (Brits) have the most failures as they grit the roads in winter.
Ask the dealer where it leaked but sounds like poor workmanship otherwise. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Vehicle back today, new diff and repaired AC in place.
Diff #2 failure was a manufacturing issue with the case. Basically wasn't round where the left half shaft seal sat, so would never have held the seal!
Diff #3 will be a charm, I'm assured...
AC had another pipe and o ring replaced, for the rear unit again. They had to drop the spare wheel and the exhaust muffler to fit it, if that helps folks ID the location.
That's at least five visits for AC leaks, two new pipes and half a dozen o rings in 24 months.
I don't believe it was ever right from new. At least now it has the uv dye in it, so they'll be able to see the next leak...
Worst repair record I'vd ever had in all my years. My D2 has the same mileage, and way less issues. Not a good advert for British engineering
Will report back when the AC and/or a diff fails again 08 LR3 SE V8 - 02 D2 SE7 V8

Not a good advert for the American dealer either.
And I think the diffs are made by Catapillar.
A poor dealer is not good for th brand and there seem to be a lot of them. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

The dealers have been very polite, but basically unable to fix any issue first time.
As a Brit living abroad, I want to fly the flag with my LR, but this bs makes it hard to sell it to my US friends... 08 LR3 SE V8 - 02 D2 SE7 V8

I don't think the polite bit is a problem?
