| Flimsy spare wheel hoist mechanism |

Is anyone aware of an improvement for the spare wheel hoist? A friend of mine had to have his replaced after the second flat tyre change; the cable seemed to strip and could not continue to raise the flat tyre into the spare wheel space at the rear of his 2005 TDV6 S model. Is this a common problem?

I was told it is a common problem. My car was recently in the dealer for the replacement fuel tank recall and its hand-back to me was delayed by the same problem.
They took a cable off another vehicle and put one on order so they could return the car to me - they didnt seem to think there was any enhancement, although I'm sure if it's too common a problem they will. D3 HSE V8...
