| How to tell if car has beed remapped? |

Hi
Just wondered if it was possible to tell whether a car has been remapped?
My sister has just bought a 2006 HSE and I have been recommending the BAS remap, but how do you tell if its allready been mapped without spending 500 odd quid with a mapping company?

you shoul have no turbo lag at a round about and doin 98 before it chages into 6 in sport mode

well there is definately turbo lag!
When you come to an island, and put your foot down to go,you can virtually roll a fag before anything happens!

I'd put a tenner on no remap then ! Errr, ummm, maybe...oh bo**ocks, just do it !

With the remap, you have to wear a surgical collar before you put your foot down if you don't want to break your neck. When I am not careful, I have to apologize to my passengers afterwards when I see them painfully rubbing their necks. The older I get, the better I was.

Ya, I recently did the superchips-Bluefin re-map and it makes some difference. No need for sports mode now. The D3 is like a bloody sports car and getting 30mpg even the way I drive.
One query though! I get my D3 serviced with local dealer and was wondering will they upset the remap when they are plugged in, performing upgrades etc.
Would I be better advised to return the ECU to normal before the service and reload it afterwards with the handheld device?

With the BAS remap, I always return to original map when getting near the dealer and as long as the car is under warranty. The older I get, the better I was.

this is a good point but even the dealer will remap for you at a price so if its there then they should not remove it they have no reason to

All the same though, I will probably return it to normal before service even though it is out of warranty as feel the local dealer might mess up the settings.

Our D3 is remapped but neck snapping acceleration? I think not.

Well I must say I have found the Bluefin plug and play top class.
No lag whatsoever. It has now the feel of a sports car in D. Sports mode has taken a back seat since the remap. Only saw it on LRM and so simple to fit. Download ECU info into handheld, plug into computer and upload to bluefin then hey presto a few minutes later, remap ready to download then back to D3 and just plug and play. The handleld can also be used as a diagnostic tool to clear fault codes. Not bad and well worth the money and all can be done at home.

Also there is still lag, the roundabout is a typical one, the remap does not get rid of that, its the ingear acceleration thats the most approved..
