HELP! black smoke
I have just looked at buying a 57 plate 36K mile auto D3
On the test drive I had a friend follow me and reported a lot of black smoke from exhausts on both light and hard acceeration. The engine was warm and I felt no hestitation from the driving position.
The car has had HP fuel pump and both EGR's replaced under warranty.
The salesman of course says that this is normal for the car but I never experienced it on my 05 manual in 3 years of ownership.
Has anyone got any thoughts or suggestions as to possible cause , all inputs greatfully received.
Regards
TR

Black Smoke, could be the intercooler hose, though usually you'd also notice a loss of power (but if you're not used to driving the Disco, you may not realise it's less power)Bodsys Brake Bible

Thanks for the inputs so far.
The car has now been put on diagnostic with no fault codes found .
It was also put on MOT smoke test with 1.23ppm result. I am not sure what the norm is for the TDV6.
I am probably at a point of walking away a losing small deposit rather than have a long term headache.
Any other suggetions welcome.
Car is near Guildfrod in Surrey.

I assume you mean I was going to predict forthcoming membership of CFT, rather than FTC!! That's a minority offshoot that applies to RRSes!

If you have no power loss, Not tuned/chipped/remapped, I would check wht Bodsy has mentioned. No Black smoke should be seen as described, I would check the top intercooler hose for splits, and the clips holding them.

Ohh yes, especially if you're being followed by a BMW convertible on a hot summers day and see the driver frantically trying to waft the fumes from their face Faultmate MSV2 EXTREME
