have a look at these I have had a couple of the trackers for monitoring trucks in real time. Works well. It also can be connected to the FBH for remote on/off. You can setup in the software a 'geofence' which is a fancy name for drawing a big circle around where you expect your car to be each night (or day they are configurable) and if it goes outside it it will start texting you so you can call plod while remote disabling it.

What do you expect from the "tracker"?

Tell where vehicle is all the time?
Inform control if it is stolen?
If you spot it gone, respond to being asked where it is?
More? Less?

What is does, and whether it is connected to phone network, affects price more than who the supplier might be. All systems can be defeated or circumvented, despite what sales literature may claim. Knowing what system is fitted does makes it easier to steal - so no public recommendations from me, sorry.

Duncan,

"Tracker" is a trade name of one of the suppliers. Maybe you should check with LR Insurance if they do mean specifically "any product from this one company".

No I asked that question, they mean any type of tracker device from any company. I'm going to ask them again though and see if I speak to someone else and they give me a different answer !!!

I had a Tracker.co.uk on my Merc but all i need one for is to satify the insurance co..

Location units

Hi
As previously said it depends on what you want from your location device do you need your vehicle monitored 24/7 do you need activation in other countries.
2 Do you need it to be monitord 24/7 or would you just need it to be located what this means is you have to notify the authorities its been stolen or as has been said in a previous post the monitoring company will notify the authorities should it move.
The latest units have no ariels and are a lot smaller so are very difficult to find every vehicle location system is Thatcham catagory Q it just depends on what level of protection you are prepared to pay for.
Some companies offer one of fees for the life of ownership and the locator is transferable to another vehicle and some you pay for monthly
So really it is up to you
cheers

I would swap insurance companies, any saving from LR insurance will probably disappear by buying a tracker and subscription.

If Land Rover insurance are saying that tracker devices are needed on their vehicles why are they not factory fitted ?.

cos they are only needed by insurance companies for vehicles over certasin values or with modification that make the vehicle more attractive to be nicked

I phoned "tracker" and because i am a previous customer I can get the basic tracker for £99 instead of £349 Thumbs Up
