much better towing experience

After being away with tintent last week, I think I might have cracked the towing with the auto finally. I'd towed with my last D3 manual for nearly 4 years, so I know its a cracking towcar, but after an outing with the auto at the tail of last year, it didnt seem as good. This time around, for all the motorway stuff, kept it in command shift, stuck to 5th (didnt use 6th), and it was much smoother and easier running, with better economy. (trip comp showing 20 instead of 17!!). Actually felt a touch sorry for all those folks we passed on the hills (no, not really 8) )

August as well for 3 weeks 8)

Will try the command shift as I've just had my first week away with the tin tent whilst towing with an Auto.
Like you I've had 2 manuals previous and must say wasn't that impressed with the Auto whilst towing, especially the MPG Shocked .

towing mpg was about the same for me (although before using commend shift, it did show 17 on trip comp, which is generally about 2 to 3 mpg better than actual Shocked ), manual seemed much better.

France for us is 7 days in southern brittany, then 10 days in the Vendee all in august.
