Xenon lights
I have been looking for a set of xenon headlamps, and may have found a set. I want the non-steering type. How do I best describe to the guy selling them what to look for to see if they are the right type?

Don't think that is quite right TFC, it is only the adaptives that have the motors inside to move. Normal xenons are a fixed bulb ( I stripped a broken light right down) I think it is the air suspension that does the leveling and that is why you can't put them on the coil sprung versions.
Simka, definately get the part numbers and also check that they are totally complete as the xenon bulbs are £120 each, there have also been quite a few sets with the rear covers missing.Zermatt silver 06 reg.

I've just had a look at mine.
Looking from the front, the left one is XBC500102 and the right one is XBC500112.
These are from the HSE, so are the swivelling type with corner lamps.

I thought the adaptives were an extra option, even on the HSE.

Yes, standard on mine too.
HSEs have everything. The only possible extras available for mine was the rear active diff, privacy glass, wood facia caps and tow pack.Matt

I know the dealer says that the adaptives cant be fitted ex-factory but what actually makes them work(apart from the motor). is there some extra trickery in the steering somewhere or software bits. can it be done. due to economics I didnt get them (wife wouldnt let me ) but later on it might be viable. can they be retrofitted (regardless of cost) just would like to know if it can be done as I assume that the wiring or most of it would be there. interested to hear your thoughts.
They were an option on 05 HSE's, in Australia anyway. I know coz I paid up to get them.Have a nice day!
