changing suspension bushes to polybushes |
|
Hi There. I have sent my 50k Disco 3 2007 S to a independent garage to have the bushes changed to Polybushes as the anti roll bars and upper and lower bushes (front and back!!) needed replacing.
The car has been in the garage for 2.5 days and the garage are quoting me a total labour time of 14 hours.
Can anybody help me and let me know if this is steep or acceptable?
Im a newby to the forum and to Landrovers and could do with abit of guidance.

I wouldn't go to poly bushes on all bushes, some are meant to be very soft, your ride will become a lot more harsh IMO.
It took me around 2 hours to change one bush on the lower arm after removing the arm. So if they allow 1 hour for each of the 8 bushes on the upper and lower arms, 3 hours to remove and refit the arms (cutting off the bolts in a tight space may be required). And say 2 hours to do the ARB bushes.
I think they are about bang on timewise.
Iain
edit: just read they are doing rear arm bushes as well - sounds like a steal, bet they don't know what they're in for
Oh by the way, welcome to the site from a local member

Thanks Iain
Just came back from france after 1300 mile round trip with 3 children, my wife and camping equip.
great roads but disco suffered from the weight.
went in for service after banging from suspension, ripping insides of rear tyres and battery died on return journey.
was told by garage that bushes were shot, so decided to go the full way and fit poly's!
its too late to change them all as they have just about finished!
they had a nightmare as bolts were rusted in and the Polybushes were hard to get in.
thanks for the welcome and im sure i will be posting other questions as my driving continues.
Hopefully my fillings wont come out when im driving it !

Let us know what the ride is like with the polybushes I fitted the BLUE kit to my old 200tdi Disco and the ride was much improved. Went in one with the standard ORANGE bushes and it seemed to wallow a bit on the road, so I'm glad I paid the extra. Faultmate MSV2 EXTREME

At the moment It feels a bit bouncy. Not as smooth as it used to be. I'm hoping its because it is still quite tight and the bushes are not letting the car sit quick enough onto the air suspension. But im only guessing.
its a lot tighter, but if the ride does not settle down im going to have a lot of travel sick kids!!
