Update.
Car's just had it's 5 year service at M J Fews (superb dealer btw) and now it's flying again
Looks like it was most probably the fuel filter (not carried out at 4 year service as per service manual by previous owner/Citroen garage..
Happy happy happy... oh and weirdly the mpg's gone up 2 also... and I wasnt; sparing the horses on the way home...so all in all a much happier D3 57 RRS TDV8

Believe me you would have known if it was an EGR.
Just had one of mine replaced. Pickup under 2000 RPM was zero. Cruise couldn't hold the speed even on level while in 6th gear at around 65ish. Pulling out into roundabouts was just dangerous unless using the manual override to keep the revs up.
It failed all of a sudden as well. Was fine one moment, next it was gone.
All fine now that thanks to LR Approved Warranty

Yeah...I'd worked out it wasn't the EGR's before it went in, my local LR specialist took the top off the engine a couple of weeks ago and told me both EGR's were working fine.
There wasn't a dead zone as per EGR fault... it was just dull from top to bottom! Anything over 3/4 throttle was a waste of time
Glad it's now 100% again... big grins and the BAS map is awesome 57 RRS TDV8
