Power connection for Fridge |
|
Hi
I have an 80 litre engel fridge from my D3 which i had wired into my 2nd battery and kit purchased through a group buy from DISCO3 (fantastic bit of kit).
On my D4 someone has kindly filled up the 2nd battery space at landrover. So, has anyone fitted a 2nd battery and where have they put it?
If not, I have had the full tow electrics installed, any ideas which wires I can connect into to run the fridge with a permanent supply? pulls 4.5amps running but I suspect starting current is a lot higher.
Cheers

On the Engel, the starting amp is the same as when it's running due to the type of engine it uses (that's why it's such a great fridge!)
Don't think anyone has found a solution for the Aux Battery yet, but would be interested to see how you do it in a true Pioneering way for everyone else
Failing that, you can use the Red wire on the White socket towing electrics as a fridge power or the Green wire (pin 4) for a perm 12v supply.
Of course remembering that you only have the one battery to run from, so watch out for draining it.....
You could also get a battery box to sit in the rear of the Disco too, but that's gonna start taking up some room...
let us know what you decide in the end.
I'm still waiting for someone to move all the electrics out of the Aux box on the D4..... Bodsys Brake Bible

In the 'auxiliary' compartment, you can move the TCM and glow modules out of the way, if you're handy with a screwdriver and have an understanding dealer. That leaves room to squeeze a second battery in.

Thanks Tim. Nice to know you have a solution already
I still think I'd prefer it in the aux box. Can't seem to find any detail on which bits need moving out and where they get moved to.... Bodsys Brake Bible

Not sure if you saw the AULRO link DriveSafe posted, but the first time I looked at that link it wasn't immediately obvious to me which parts had been moved (as I didn't know the names of all the bits and bobs). But once I opened up the Aux box (of my unmodified D4), took a digital photo of it, and compared it to the posting, it all became clearer. Suzuki Vitara 3dr

thanks eddomak.
What actually happened, was I was on the iphone and by the time I had registered & activated it, I just clicked new posts. Drivesafe has a post about his D4 Dual battery kit, so I asumed it was that one
Thanks for the re-jolt back to what Tim ACTUALLY linked to & not just my own random post lookup.... Bodsys Brake Bible

Also, if you want another post from the same forum, and with pictures of a battery installed, see:
http://www.aulro.com/afvb/d3-d4-rrs/102904-d4-battery-photos.html
I found that post a bit clearer as to what the finished product looks like, as well alternative options for relocation of bits, and also some model numbers of batteries. Suzuki Vitara 3dr
