4th day of D4 ownership - have I found a fault so soon? |
|
Just parked up in the B&Q car park, locked car...
Did my shopping, came back, opened car and it said "Bonnet open" on the dash. Went to bonnet, it was most certainly secured. So I opened the bonnet and re-closed it. Still said "Bonnet open".
Drove home and realised on my drive it wouldnt alarm / lock as it thought the bonnet was open. When I tried to lock / alarm the car it it just beeped twice.
Opened the bonnet, shut it, tried again - same problem. Did this a third time and suddenly it registered as closed and alarmed.
Is this a known niggle? My first experience of Land Rover reliability issues? 747_JK

probably the bonnet catch switch - on the RHS (LHS as you look at the engine bay) below the latch mechanism there is a swtich (well, there is on the D3 and have assumed D4 is the same). give it a wiggle Duncan

Yes the switch as previosly mentioned if you can't get into the stealers for repair and it keeps warning you of bonnet open, disconnect the switch and bridge both wire connectors with piece of wire with male terminals if you can manage it, will not warn you again, worked for me on my d3 as temp repair and was on for 18 months.

Had the same problem with my D3 back in 2004........one bonnet catch didn't close properly. Sometimes I could make it shut properly by using one hand each side above the cathces on the bonnet to close it. 2011 D4 Landmark, Mini Cooper SD Clubman, Range Rover Vogue SE

Got the problem to go away - but now it's just set the alarm going whilst parked, as it registered the bonnet was open.
This time called LR Assist - they were here in 30 mins and found the bonnet sensor switch wasnt plugged in properly. Pushed it in, the fault cleared, and off he went.
Dont mind the occasional niggle if the back-up service (on a Sunday evening at 6.30pm) is that good. 747_JK
