Engine system fault. HELP.

Hi all. Ive got problem with the Disco. Engine System Fault is being displayed and there is quite alot of lost power especially in low gears and when pulling away. I have taken it to the main dealer (shukers) and they cant tell me what the cause is yet. They have however ruled out the possibility of the ERG valves at fault as they have run a system check on them and all is fine there, they have also checked a few common causes such as water/moisture in the ECU etc and all seems fine. Now they suspect a broken wire but finding it counld prove to v difficult and at £95/hour im wondering if it in the right hands. Has anyone experienced this before? and more so can anyone help? Suggestions and advice would be greatfully recieved. Cheers Guy.

Engine System Fault displayed usually refers to a faulty turbo.

No pics im affraid. Have you got the i button on the end of the indicator stalk? If so its the same "i" icon that is displayed on the odometre, scroll down to view the info by pressing that i button.

I have not got trip computer hence no i on the indicator stick

it is weird that i is displayed indicating clear issue with the car and the dealer can not find no fault codes on it???

I would get in touch with anyone who has got proper diagnostic equip as TFC or wiggs and get it checked

Sounds like either Turbo or EGR.

On mine I had "ENGINE SYSTEM FAULT" displayed, sometimes it would clear when I switched off and on, but in the end the Turbo packed up. Its the variable vanes on the turbo that open and close, they jam up and cause this fault. Nowt more you can do if you have this fault, except change the turbo.

Or it could be a EGR, and the only way you can check is to get the fault codes looked at.

JUST JOINED C.F.T

Hi after all the worry the nightmare has come true Sad Turbo is fooked. Any ideas on the best way forward? Does anyone know the best place to get a turbo apart from L.R. Dealers rekon they would lift the body off the chasis to do the job and want loads of money to do it. Big Cry

Would'nt know if the Turbo's are available outside the LR network. Seen a few on ebay, but to be honest would you wanna chance it......contact TLO for prices and availability.

As for the body off, mine was done that way cos mine was the 1st the dealer had done, and they followed the procedure word for word, but many now have mastered the way through knuckle scraping in the N/S wheel arch.

Sorry to hear your news though
