This is a mountain of info on this (try searching for "+EGR +MY07" or something similar).
Basically EURO IV forces the manufacturers to use Engine Management Systems that monitor, use and react to the components/readings in the emissions control system.
Being a closed-loop system, if you have an error or deviation from the expected signals/values, then it will throw a wobbler and give warning lamps/messages and could even put it in limp-home mode to prevent the engine operating "out of spec".2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE AutoBuckingham Blue 2007 Golf GT DSG

Hey Pete,
Thanks for the very informative help
I assume mine being MY06 if suitable
If so, I'll definitly be placing my order for one of your blanking kits in the next week (got a wedding in the family this weekend so SWMBO won't approve my purchase until after)
The LR dealer who I mentioned is in mid Gloucs, not too far from Stroud, so you should be able to find them (if you want to)

Might be able to do Saturday. Need to check with Swmbo first Bodsys Brake Bible
Have sailed through 2 MOTs/emmissions tests with no problems whatsoever with Pete's kit fitted to my MY06 D3.
When you see the 2 clagged-up stub pipes you remove from the air intake, you'll wonder how your engine managed to run on the it was being forced to ingest Now an ex-D3 owner after 7 happy years. Miss the car but not the big bills

I want to fit the Bell Autos kit but I'm mechanically challenged
Anyone in the SW Essex area want to arrange an EGR removal day?

I fiited the BAS blanking kit to my D3 around 2-3 months ago. Took a couple of hours all-in as I took my time but no real issues. A little fiddly at times but if you follow the instructions all will be fine.
Passed MOT earlier this month with no problems. The local independant LR specialist have been blanking EGR's for a while and recommended it.

Well, thanks for the Bacon & Mushroom butties of plenty of coffee
Oh as well as letting me try out doing this on someone else's car
All went pretty well, between us we managed to get the right tools & sockets & adjusters etc.
if there is one thing missing from the kit, it's a new set of bolts. Can't cost more than 50p or so for a a set of bolts Pete, so get them put in the kit! (Please!)
2 of the old bolts were OK & could be re-used, but the other two had corroded a fair bit & we were a bit worried that they might easily sheer off when tightening up.
Does anyone know what the torque should have been on those bolts BTW?
Also, the Blanks aren't as thick as the bits we removed, so we were a little concerned about tightening down into the already corroded bolts.
Still, a quick trip to the local autoparts shop & we had a bag of 10 or 20 for £2. A little longer than we wanted, but no problem when you've got a hacksaw to hand
Took us a little over three hours or so do and then a short test drive, this was with us both double checking the information & then trying to manipulate bolts into place that you needed to have octupus hands for.
I wouldn't want to attempt to do this on my own, but only due to more hands needed in fiddly parts of teh instructions.

Point taken Ill look to start adding 4 new landrover bolts to the kit also.
I do agree ive fitted some and the bolts can be nasty sometimes but its never crossed my mind to add them to the kit as i stock them and naturally just walk over to the M6 draw for a couple without thinking.
As you say the oval plate is only 5mm thick compared to the factory pipe that is slightly thicker, so with new bolts it would help.
Once one kit is fitted a second car is always faster to do from start to finish.

RE the bolts and locating them.
TIP's
Put some paper tissue in one side of the socket, push the bolt into the socket and it wont fall out when upside down as the tissue holds it in possition while you screw it in making it easy to do without having to get your hands down their.
Same as adding the oval plates, put a coat hanger/rod through one of the holes on the oval plate and put the very end of the hanger into one of the threaded holes of the EGR valve on the car, let the plate drop and slide down the hanger into location, using the tissue trick put a bolt in the other side of the oval plate and now you can remove the coat hanger, repeate tissue trick on the last threaded hole.
