Replacing wing mirror assembly or just glass

Last night, someone standing in the dark by the road side swayed and stuck his arm out as I was driving along. It was a country road with no lights and he was pretty nigh invisible. Fortunately he was extremely lucky and in his relaxed state seemed to have suffered no damage. My nearside wing mirror wasn't so lucky. The glass broke and came free of the unit. I undid a couple of clips and the glass came free. I clearly need to get it fixed. Does anyone know what a new unit might cost and, if it would be possible to just get the replacement mirror part?

The glass bit is £25 +vat and is easy to replace. Just make sure you press the centre of the glass to engage in the mirror, or you will need another new one!

Breaking it is easy...

Gareth hi,

Bought the unit this morning - #25.00 plus VAT just as you said. Then a kindly chap at the dealers said, "We can pop it in for you if you like" Then they tried to and broke the mirror. I go back tomorrow for their second go.....

Went back this morning - they went to fit the second replacement mirror .... and they broke it too. They tell me they've ordered three replacements for their next attempt.
Good job they're professionals Question

DIY

Just replaced the entire mirror assembly (clipped it on a gate Embarassed )
It only took 20 minutes, even though the door cover has to be removed.
Anyone that's considering this, go carefully and find all the screws otherwise you tend to have to plastic-weld parts back onto the door covers... Mad
I had no issue replacing the glass, cos luckily I had read your post first! Thanks again disco3.co.uk
