Your thoughts ?

What are your thoughts on this, is it progress.
The first photo shows a bridleway near me, if you look you can see the old path next to the new cinder path, it is made from waste tarmac bits Shocked , it streches for about 5 miles now.
The second photo shows what a local land owner has done to stop it's progress onto his land. Thumbs Up
I'm just wondering when the street lamps are going to be fitted lighting the countryside Censored

An eye sore. Why does it need to happen, and if so, why not use a more locally sourced base material......

they did a load of this sort of grading on paths/bridleways/byways around here about 4 or 5 years ago, if your local authority is anything like ours they then forget about it and in a couple of seasons it's almost 'back to natural' Laughing Laughing

I don't know who owns the land in the first photograph, but it looks to me as though the path in places has been laid less than a metre from the hedge.

It's vandalism.

As a quondam equestrian, it's not what I'd chose to ride on for a bridleway, but as Malc says, give it a couple of seasons and it'll make a good base.

So no doubt he is on the take. I suspect that the Rural Payments Agency would be interested in what has been done.

That looks horrible and if it's just a Bridleway, then more than twice the width it needs to be. I can undestand them using this material on a RUPP (think they are called something else now) but on a path for horses, cyclists and ramblers, this looks like a vandalism of the countryside. Very poor.

Could be a disabled access path, doesn't each council have to have so many miles suitable for wheelchair.

Yes - agreed. But on the basis he is a politician, he will no doubt be taking everything that he can get!
