As the resident Prius driver 2 things to note:
1. The Mark 2 Prius (of which this is one) is a completely different throttle arrangement to the Mark 3 which has been recalled. When my Mk 2 was serviced last week I asked about the recall and was told itdoes not apply (yet.......)
2. If his throttle was stuck down, it does more than 94 mph Craig

All, in the interests of Science (and proving that driver education sometimes seems to leave a lot to be desired) I completed a little experiment on the way home last night.
Mostly empty motorway, cruising at 60, I floored the throttle on the Prius, and made sure I was getting full bore acceleration (not great I know) and when it reached a threshold slightly over the limit but not likely to get me a ticket, I flicked the gear lever to neutral - for those that don't know the gear shift is fly by wire and is a little lever within finger tip reach of the steering wheel, there is very little resistance and certainly no detents to stop it moving.
The car instantly went into neutral, and I guess the electronics were working to protect the car, the engine immediately dropped to tickover.
I do not know the specific details of the incidents to compare, but it was all very calm, and I just put the car back in drive and continued on my way. Craig
