Slow Compressor = Tyre Wear

My D3 has just returned from the dealer having had a few problems fixed. One of the items I asked them to check was the front wheel alignment as I have noticed the tyres are wearing on the inside of the tread more than the outside.
Another item I asked them to check was the slow operation of the compressor.
The outcome is the compressor is slow and will be replaced under warranty and they can’t check the tracking until the new compressor is fitted as the car is sitting ‘low’ at the moment and would not give the correct reading. Ok this all makes sense.
So I have asked these questions.
Q:- As the compressor is running slow causing the car to sit low is this throwing the steering geometry out causing the tyres to wear unevenly?
A:- Yes.
Q:- So will Land Rover compensate me for the excessive tyre wear as a result in a failure of one the vehicle components.
A:- Can’t see why not.
I will keep you informed as to the result

Has it helped your MPG? I'm desperate to improve on 23 so might even try this!

Not sure I buy that.

I can understand that if you never get to normal ride height, then the tyre wear could be impacted. However, a slow compressor will get you there in the end, and if the car wasn't at normal height you'd get a flashing icon next to the paddle.

They are right about not being able to check the geometry if the vehicle is at the wrong height, though the procedure is to check, adjust, check ride height, check geometry again and adjust if required, then check ride height again......and so on, until it is right.

I think, Andrew, you'd have to be on a pretty low mileage for LR to agree to cover new tyres.....I suspect the best they would do would be to offer a contribution to new tyres - as long as you get them through the dealer.

Not expecting new tyres mate just a bit of compensation. They have worn quite bad. Wink
