Have any of you guys seen what Greenpeace (http://www.greenpeace.org.uk) have on their site about Land Rover. On the home page as well centre bottom. They have specifically targeted and named LR as an abuser of the planet under the name of Ford .
The worst thing that could have happened to LR was the take over by BMW and then the purchase by Ford .
Maybe Greenpeace appear to forget they use b****y great ships burning huge amounts of diesel and outboards also burning huge amounts of fuel to get to their 'do gooder' venues. They even have aeroplanes and helicoptors, so why pick on the LR have they nothing better to do. Ships belch out more pollution than a lowly LR. I take on board about 80 litres of fuel for my trips, not 50,000 litres as an aeroplane does or ten times as much for a cruise liner.
Maybe they should campaign to stop bonfires or planes flying before they pick on the vehicle that has made the world and helped the 3rd world countries plus many others like no other vehicle.
Sorry guys, hit a nerve, soap box put away now

I have to agree completely with your comments, Greenpeace and similar groups are blinkered to the reality that cars are not the planets biggest problem. Along with boats, planes etc cars contribute to the polution in the atmosphere but they are not alone. The car is just an easy target.
Greenpeace should be looking at the longevity of a car (or to be specific make). How many 1997 Fiat Puntos do you see on the road, compare that to the number of 1997 Defenders you see. The disposal nature of certain makes of car after 8 years is probably more of a problem than size, drive or fuel consumption.

Flippin Tree Huggers the lot of them!. Why don't they shut up, go away and get a life, and stop telling us what and where and for what purpose we should or should not be driving.
It is a free country, I drive a Land Rover because I want to, I pay more tax as a result, and that is MY choice.

You're right guys, Greenpeace need to 'walk their talk' and come clean about how much they are contributing to global warming.

Dom, believe it or not, the article you highlighted, I was unaware of, but it is almost what I said . I contract to the oil companies and have seen Greenpeace refuelling with diesel. It is not environmentally friendly the amounts they use in their ships. Next time I see one, I will photograpgh it pumping out its bilges, which of course all ships do all the time.
The problem with the world now is that we have gone a bit overboard. Yes we all have a duty to save our planet for future generations, but not by aggressive protesting as Greenpeace do. Maybe they will need a Land Rover to get to some parts of the world who really do need educating.
My thoughts are they are aiming at Ford really and LR in the UK is an easier touch than the USA.
I thought the emissions of the D3 were the same as any other vehicle of its engine size, am I incorrect. Do we have a boffin in the forum to enlighten me
Damm it, got that soap box out again

Dom, no only ex mother in laws, yes it is plural , bit like Jim Davidson really, think he beats me, but not sure. No its the ones who work for me. Can you imaging 6 passengers who are either ex driving examiners, instructors or highly qualified driving instructors holding every licence and qualification thinkable And they are only the girls
They all have soap boxes and usually all speak at once about the same thing, my driving .Sounds like the hen house sometimes. I am a shadow of myself now (Martin need some more Emoticons)
