Hi all,
We finalised our D4 order today - my first LR
D4 XS
Bournville/almond (hubby initally chose buckingham blue, but I changed it to bournville after seeing a RRS in it)
Tow pack
Cameras
Sunroof
Dog guard
Full size spare
Should have delivery by the end of March - can't wait!
We took one for a test drive this morning. So impressive - the suspension is so stable in sharp corners, and the engine is much better than I thought it would be. And the seats are soooo comfy. My current car is a Honda S2000, so bit of a difference all round really! Only downside is that we'll have to get a ramp for the dogs, as it's too high for them! They'll love the view though.
Oh, it's going to be a long 2 months!

Thanks guys!
Not sausage dogs, but a retriever and lab who aren't as springy as they used to be.

Well, it's been a long couple of months, but my D4 is finally at the dealer's! We thought it would be ready last Saturday, so planned a long weekend of aimless driving, only to be told on Friday afternoon that it hadn't arrived. Grrr.
Another false start yesterday prompted a snotty email, which seemed to to the trick, and it arrived this morning, and we can collect it tomorrow afternoon
Shame we're going on holiday on Friday for 10 days (not in the car) so it will be sitting on my driveway gathering bird until we get back. Still, nice to be able to look forward to coming back from hols!
Pics will be posted once there's enough sun!

Luckily it's an exciting holiday on our BMW touring bike, but I know what you mean! I have to remind myself that we've got the D4 for several years, so there's plenty of time to enjoy it.....

Well, it's here, and what can I say but
I let the hubby drive for the first couple of hours (aren't I nice!), but I know I'll be driving it to work every day, so I'm not bothered. Just taken it up onto the south downs - not off road, but very rough, and had a test of the HDC. Flippin marvellous!
So so pleased with it, and Harwoods of Pulborough did a great job. I thought there was a small problem with the reverse camera (it wasn't showing the guide lines), but a quick fiddle with the settings sorted that out. And I love the colour (Bournville with almond/arabica).
I'm actually looking forward to going to work tomorrow

Looks great! Would like to see a few more photos if you have the chance as that's the colour combo that I am leaning towards but I've haven't found too many on t'internet.

Bushwanderer - if only! It's come at the most inconvenient time! I'll drive it home tonight, then the next time will be the 11th April!
MogulBoy - might be a week or two, but I'll do my best. I also didn't go for privacy glass, and I'm pleased about that as it doesn't have the "van" effect!

Privacy Glass with dogs is a Must in my opinion.
We collected ours (D3) without it but soon went back to the stealer and got it retro fitted.
Stops the dogs (retrievers) getting too hot when driving around, especially if sat in trafik queues
Looking to buy a fan to go on the side of the cage for this summer too
Mark D4 HSE - Aintree Green
D4 Orkney my13 - gone
Stornaway D4. Gone, Didn't like it at all
D3 silver manual. Loved my first LR

I'll look out for some more piccies in a few weeks then if not too inconvenient...
P.S. I can see that dogs might benefit but I'm not too keen on privacy glass myself... I always thought that the benefit/effect from inside the vehicle was better (i.e not as dark) as the appearance from the outside would sugggest but when I test drove a D4 with it, I thought that it hampered rear view mirror visibility more than I would have hoped and that was in broad daylight. Still, I assume one would get used to it and there's always the door mirrors and reversing camera option which I would hope would come into its own at night!

Retro-fit "privacy" can be specced lighter than factory - more smoked than deep tint. That's what I did and it looks great and has less of a dark feel inside. Paul

I think the dogs will be fine without the privacy glass - never had it on our other cars, and to be honest they only tend to be in it for 10 minutes at a time.
Well, back from my hols, and back in the Disco! I've now had a chance to have a play with all the buttons, etc. Found a couple of problems though - the rh wiper didn't work after I got back, and this was traced to the nut not being done up tight enough. Bit annoying, but not too serious.
Then on trying the global close, the lh rear window didn't shut. We found that the one-touch open works, but not the close. Dealer will have a look at it on Saturday.
Apart from that, still absolutely thrilled. We fitted the hatchbag on Sunday night (which, by the way, is a fantastic product), and the dogs are happy, although they're still getting used to the ramp. My retriever is a bit stupid, and can't quite work out that's how she should get in. My lab saw that she couldn't jump in, so went up the ramp herself. They'll get there...
So 250 miles on the clock, and I'm already getting 30mpg (claimed). Can't wait to take it on a long trip - week in Scotland has been pencilled in for October.
And I will get round to taking some piccies soon....
