Knocking Sound

I started hearing a knocking sound under the car recently. It sounds as if it is coming from the rear but is difficult to tell. I had the car at the dealers and they replaced a suspension spindle rod but I can still hear it going over a bumpy surface at low speeds. I had it up on a ramp and checked the spare wheel, exhaust and anti roll bushes but cannot see anything obvious. The protection plates under the car seem to be full of gravel and other muck - could this have something to do with it? Dealer hasn't provided me with a good answer. Any ideas?

check the spare wheel fibreglass heatshield, i had a knocking from the rear, managed to destroy the heatshield while off road so pull it off and the knocking went....replaced with a new one and the knock is back!

The anti-roll bar bushes may not have any apparent play in them, especially the front ones.

TBH, i would fit the spacers anyway and see if that cures it. 9 times out of 10, it does Thumbs Up

Could always check the front ball joints as well...

I have the same knocking - low speed on less than smooth roads.

The dealers have replaced the steering ball joints which has made no difference and allegedly tightened the anti roll bar packers - it's back in on Monday....

I had the same noise when driving on cart tracks or over speed bumps, ended up tracinf the fault to the front lower arm rear bushes, changed both bushes and now quite as a mouse. Check for side to side movement on said bushes with a bar ..
