LR extended warranty on approved used d3

Hi all,

any advice re below?

I bought my 56 plate d3 mid dec 09 and had it back in for a few bits of work at which time i also asked them to check the brakes due to grinding when at full lock and a few other issues that i thought would be warrenty probs.

Returned to get the car and im being charged £59.50+VAT for the investigation of the issues they could not fault?!

Is this normal as i do not have the T's&C's for the warrenty yet!

Surely not! My last much cheaper car's warrenty didnt do this!

Thanks in advance!

If you pay a normal rate (ie not trade) for a used car from a dealer, your standard consumer rights cover you for faults for 6 months anyway, and after 6 months you've a load of rights still. Legally most warranty policies are a waste of money for the first 6 months after buying a used car, it just determines how much of an argument you'll have with a dealer.

thats my experience, LR extended warranty is toilet paper to dealers. It does't help that the dealers treat extended warranty as a licence to rip you off with made up charges and downright lies.

Don't believe anything they tell you with regard to costs, take a name from them of the person in the service dept who decided your warranty would not apply and then use their phone in the service area to call LR to check quoting names and dealer, use a nice clear voice to explain the rip-off so other customers can benefit from advance warning of dealer treatment Mr. Green

Watch how fast they start backpeddling Rolling with laughter

I'm surprised you got that response from them, they have always treated me more than fairly even though I didn't buy my car from them.

Having said that, I'm not totally convinced the workshop is as good as it could be, seems fine on anything obvious and mechanical or if there is a fault code, but electrical and no fault code and "it can't be a problem!"

Thought I would leave with my temperature gauge sorted yesterday but even though it doesn't move off of totally cold "we couldn't find anything". Does "not moving except to go immediately full scale" not count? Confused Having said that, they didn't charge me anything for looking so its a bit more DIY I think, now where is Nick's number..... Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

I bought a 55 s model in April last year with 1 year Land Rover warrenty. Has been back to the dealer (not the same one I bought the car from) and generally no problem.

They have looked at EGR and replaced
They have looked at electrics and sorted non start problem
They have looked at squeaky brakes
They have re alingned the steering wheel
However when it came too tracking and wheel alignment I was presented with a bill for £110

I guess wheel alignment and tracking is wear and tear so I didnt kick up a fuss.
