Service indicator - anyone seen it yet?

My car will turn 13000 miles tomorrow, and according to info my dealer told me a while ago, I should start to see the count down to Oil Service at 15000 miles. I await with extreme anticipation Razz

Anyone seen this yet, or not, or have I got the highest miles on here!

Gareth,

Yes, you should. This will happen when you turn on the igntion and is the first message displayed on the trip screen. Once you pass the pre-designated service interval, the mileage starts to read in the negative.

Gareth,

It is possible that the relevant setting in the CCF (Car Configuration File) has not be made. There are a number of options relating to the service interval display: e.g. that the user can reset the display themselves. This only works if the right options are selected in the CCF.

I can't afford the time off the road to get it checked. I will ask them to sort when it does go in for its service.

To be honest, its a bit of a waste of time, as the car has a fixed service interval i.e 15k miles. A service indicator is only really useful when the service interval varies according to type of use.

I agree.

For what it's worth, if the service indicator was reset properly at delivery, you should get a service signal 600 miles prior to reaching the service mileage. You may not be there yet.

The indicator will show in the odo display for few seconds when you turn on the ignition. It counts down in 25 mile chunks.

600 miles! I can do that in less than two days! Fat lot of use that will be when my local main dealer has a 3 week waiting list tobook in and get a courtesy car.

I think I will book it in tomorrow for the end of june. It turned 13,000 this morning.

The indicator is a superfluous piece of technology!

I think we can all read the ODO and work it out... besides I hear LR disabled the feature because sooo many posh RR drivers got confused as it never worked properly... bless em Wink
